The HDSP System, from RME consists of either a PCI card or a CardBus interface, plus an external I/O-box, that together can operate on either a desktop or a laptop computer.
The HDSP PCMCIA CardBus Interface is a type II laptop card with zero wait state CardBus Busmaster technology. With up to 130 MB/s transfer rate in both directions, the same basic performance is provided on a notebook as a PCI card would offer on a desktop computer. Additionally the card is fully "plug and play" and compatible under Windows and Mac OS.
The PCMCIA card and I/O box are connected using ordinary 6-pin FireWire cable. Since the CardBus card does not provide power to the attached I/O box, a compact and light-weight hi-tech switch-mode power supply is included.
Note! To make a complete system, an optional I/O box, such as the Digiface, Multiface, Multiface II or RPM has to be purchased
