The ImageMate USB 2.0 Reader/Writer is a single slot, Hi-Speed reader and writer that connects to your computer's USB 2.0 port. Because USB 2.0 devices are backwards compatible with USB 1.1 ports, the ImageMate USB 2.0 Reader/Writer will work with all existing USB ports. The ImageMate USB 2.0 provides the ability to write data to and read data from flash memory cards without connecting your digital device (digital camera, handheld computer, digital music player, etc.) directly to a computer. SanDisk's ImageMate USB 2.0 Reader/Writer is the fastest way today to transfer pictures, music, data and more to and from your computer.

I bought this card reader to replace an older (not SanDisk) unit for which Vista drivers were not available so my old unit would not work with my new notebook PC. The packaging on this model did not say it worked with Vista, but it installed in a snap without using the drivers or other software on the included CD. File transfers have been fast and easy. The only reason that I give this unit 4 stars and not 5 stars is that I would have liked a unit that has it's USB connector built in. I hate having to carry one more cable around when I travel.

This reader is rubbish. Mine very suddenly started making ahigh-pitched noise when cards are inserted and became unableto read some CF cards that it had worked with for at least ayear.Worse, some of the files that it did read would be corruptedwhen written to the disk. And the absolute killer - itcorrupted some of the files on my CF cards.I'd recommend staying away from this product.

Comments about SanDisk CompactFlash Card Reader - USB 2.0:
This product is really good. Super easy to use didn't really have to install anything into my computer. The only down side is that it only reads up to 2GB cards and I have a 4GB so I had to return it and get something bigger. But if you have a CF card up to 2GB this is a really good buy with a good price.

I keep this CF card reader in my camera bag for fast transfer to my digital workspace (I keep the 12 IN 1 READER in the office for all the different size cards people use). It is holding up just fine to being dragged around and uploading pictures from CF card to both Mac and PC computers.

Easy hookup to USB slot. You can use the program that comes with the reader to transfer data or do it manually. It's compact and nice that the cord detaches from the reader for portability.

Good compact USB 2.0 CF Reader. Small enough to keep in my camera bag. Works without any additional software. I have 2.. one in the laptop bag, one with the camera. Both have worked well for months with no problems.

Comments about SanDisk CompactFlash Card Reader - USB 2.0:
Mine is a couple years old and works just fine. I'm a bit surprised by [@]'s review since I can't imagine how the reader/writer can corrupt files while they're still on the CF card unless the computer is writing back to it. If I were[@]I'd start looking for the cause of corruption at the camera or the card itself. It helps to label your cards such that if one does develop a problem you know which one is at fault.[@]
