Comments about Zeiss 28mm f/2.8 ZM Lens - Silver:
My visual acuity requires well-spaced depth of field lines, which are a characteristic of Zeiss lenses. The silver versions are even easier to read than the black.
The lens is compact and light . With the focus on 2 metres and the aperture set at f8 ,the DOF extends from 1.2 metres to 5 metres , making it ideal for rapid snapshooting. The focusing knob is useful as a guide. If it is pushed to the infinity stop and then eased back slightly, this sets the focus at 5 metres. With the knob pointing vertically down, the focus is 1.2 metres. Midway between these two positions it is about 3 metres ,thus enabling quick pre-setting of focus without looking through the viewfinder.
The 28mm frame lines almost coincide with the edges of the viewfinder, so the whole viewfinder becomes the frame.
I look for smooth helicoids with no backlash when focusing. In this respect the Biogon performs admirably. The aperture ring is somewhat stiff but I hope this will improve with use.
The optical characteristics of Zeiss lenses are warm, with a three - dimensional quality, good resolution and contrast. The results I have obtained with the Biogon support this description
I would have no hesitation in recommending this lens
