Comments about Tamron 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Di-II Lens for Nikon Digital:
I am using this lens primarily for scenes. It has been quite a while since I have had a real wide angle lens and I have missed it. It is amazing how a wider view changes perspective. I also like the depth of field. The biggest problems is having to relearn how to see such a wide scene. It is a different type of photography from a basic or telephoto lens. It's not the kind of lens to just pick up and use without practice.

Comments about Tamron 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Di-II Lens for Nikon Digital:
Great lens for expedition when weight is an important issue. The focal lenght is great for landscape and particularly for groups; you can show people in the context creating a sense of intimacy when you shoot very close to your subjects. Distortion is good compared to similar lenses. The big problem about this lens is that edge sharpness is visible worst compared to center sharpness at most f/ stops, creating a general lack of sharpness impression.
Motor is noisy but this is not an issue for me as it does not affect the image quality. I can use standard filters without vigneting.

Comments about Tamron 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Di-II Lens for Nikon Digital:
This is a very good lens.
But it can complement it well if u have a good efficient camera body,(5d, Mark 3, 40D, 400d). You could use it on a full frame body as well. As long as u keep ur focal length between 16mm & 18mm.
On a full frame 11mm gives u freaky interesting pictures.
The lens being a F4.5\5.6 needs an ISO push. Its a sharp stable lens, iv used it in heavy rain and dusty conditions, delivers well & very sharp.
Comments about Tamron 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Di-II Lens for Nikon Digital:
I bought this lens for some in-home family portraits, often doing large groups in tight places. Overall the lens is good, and a great value for the money. The barrel distortion and lack of sharpness are disappointing. Not up to the high quality of other Tamron lenses I own. However both these problems can easily be fixed in Photoshop. But this lens is very much appreciated when I need a flexible super wide angle, it gets me out of tight spots and definitely a cool lens for landscapes, cityscapes, photojournalism etc.
Problems Encountered: The barrel distortion and lack of sharpness are disappointing. OK construction but not as well made as other Tamron lenses.
