The Excursion 10x42E binocular from Bushnell is aimed squarely at other premium Japanese companies ~$300 42mm roof prism units,. They are every bit as good optically with a far more robust contruction. The center bridge employs elements from the incredibly tough and recently deceased 42mm Elite binocular, a truly beloved instrument known for being able to take quite a few knocks.
There is not much not to like about these Excursions; they have excellent handling, construction, resolution, focusing speed and range...in short they are a bonafide winner. The spiffy case, comfy strap and tethered lenscaps included in the package are a nice touch.
