My son uses this on his Sony. Not fisheye but some (desired) bendy distortion. Image quality seems pretty good although salesman said it was t intended for HD. No vignette.

No seriously, my Sony Handycam was useless until I bought this lens. Viewing homemade movies is twice as pleasurable now than before. You can see much more in the frame and zooming isn't hindered by this lens at all! This is a much more cost effective way to get more out of your camera, so go buy one!

I use this lens for skydiving videography of students doing their first jumps. I needed a lens that would give me the wide angle I wanted, yet allow me to zoom in for close-ups of landings, etc. This lens does that just fine, and the picture quality is very good. I just wish I could put a filter on it for protection.

This is a very good lens for regular use, when the ordinary camera angle is not enough. I've been using this lens for nearly two years, when it fell of the camera, due to a sudden impact (I'm using the lens in skydiving). Because of the low price I've bought another one. If offers great quality, except when the sun is very bright, the center of the screen becomes blurred (even when shooting away from the sun). I recomend buyin it if you're looking for some cheap lens.

I've been wanting a wide angle lens for my sony trv27 for a while and I finally decided to get one before my vacation. This lens makes my video so much better because i can fit more in the frame. There is a little distortion around the edge when it is fully zoomed out but it is only noticable when close to a straight line. If you want a lens with no distortion you need the high grade lens. I was told this was not zoom through but on my camera which has 10x zoom it is fully zoom through with no blurring. I have not noticed any loss of quality of my footage with this lens on. I was worried about the zoom and having to remove the lens when i want to zoom so I was considering the 0.7x snap on lens from sony, but I kept this on the whole time zooming in and out, and only took it off for zooming further which was rare.
Others I considered were raynox 0.5x snap on (qc-505), sony 0.7x snap on (vcl-hge07a) but I figured the three lens elements (in the sony 0.6x ) were better than the one lens in both of the snap on lenses quality wise and the magnification was in between 0.7 and 0.5. Though i am not sure if this is true. I was also told the sony is better quality than raynox though raynox is still good quality. I would recommend looking at samples on the internet if you are still unsure.
This is a great lens especially for the price.

Very useful since most camcorders have excellent zoom lenses but in general they lack of enought wide angle view.

Use for my sony Cam. You can cover a wider view and cover lots of sense in small movement. very clear image and great to video tape the view in one shot

The lens does a great job at adding a little extra coverage to the scene. It is not to be confused with a "fish-eye" lense that is ultra wide coverage. I like that it does not distort my image like a fish-eye can.

I bought this for my Sony DCR-TRV33. I use it mostly for family videos, especially with my kids. For me, the wide end of the zoom range is more important than the tele. The stock zoom never offered a wide enough field to capture indoor activities well. I was always backing into a wall trying to get everyone in the frame. With this adapter, I can more easily frame everyone and still have a useful tele capability. I've left it on continuously since receiving it and the results are quite satisfying. I haven't been able to seriously evaluate the optical quality yet but the potential trade-offs seem worthwhile.

I use the VCL-0630X on my Sony camcorder to shoot real estate videos and the quality is great! My video is crisp with no distortion. My only complaint is that I can't use a polarizing filter with it.

This is a good wide angle. i use it on my Sony hdr-hc3 HDV camcorder. there is a more expensive wide angle lens for this camera but this is one is good enough in my opinion. i am a pro news photographer and i use my Sony handycam when situations and environments don't let you use a full size camera. a wide angle lens is a must have for these handycams...i leave it on the camera full-time.
