Comments about Bowens Esprit Gemini AC/DC Monolight - 500 Watt/Seconds (117VAC/12VDC):
My three Monolights are mostly used in a home studio for people and product photograpy. It is also used for location work.
After about 15 years of absolute reliability, my old set of three was ruined by flooding. This new set continues the legacy with the added feature of being able to be taken on location using battery power.
I recommend the Esprit Gemini Monolights to any photographer wanting ease of use and reliability.

Comments about Bowens Esprit Gemini AC/DC Monolight - 500 Watt/Seconds (117VAC/12VDC):
I purchased two of the 500-watt Bowen moonlights as part of my equipment upgrade plans (following my previous purchase and enjoyable experience with the two-160w Impact monolight kit).
I was drawn to the Bowen's line for a variety of reasons: my current Impact lights can use their light modifiers (reflectors, grids, barnyard door, and snoot attachments), the availability of products and respectfully the potential for future equipment expansion and upgrades plans (general accessories, wattage, etc.), and (considering my related budget) the reasonable costs.
These lights more than meet my current needs and really look cool in my evolving home / office studio. My plans are to purchase either a 250 or another 500-watt (considering the small cost difference perhaps the 500 watt?) along with a 750-watt monolight to round out my studio set-up. This would give me a very moderate costing key, fill, overhead and background lighting set-up.

Comments about Bowens Esprit Gemini AC/DC Monolight - 500 Watt/Seconds (117VAC/12VDC):
I've been using some old Bowens paint can style monos that are about 20 years old. These new Geminis are sweet. They have a built in optical slave that can be disabled. Very durable. I had a stand with one of these on it blow over and the light crashed pretty hard on rocks. The umbrella got smashed up a bit but the light remained unharmed. I own two of these and I think I will always use Bowens. They make a great monolight.

I already had two Esprit Gemini 250 that i´ve been using for the last 5 years and i wanted a little bit more.
I know very well Bowens and al tought is not the most expensive label on the market i wouldn´t doubt to say is maybe the best.
The two monolight that i already been using hadn´t given me any problem since i had them so i hope i won´t have any problem with this one.

Comments about Bowens Esprit Gemini AC/DC Monolight - 500 Watt/Seconds (117VAC/12VDC):
I purchased this monolight as part of a kit that included two units, stands, and reflectors. I did a lot of research and this package seemed to provide a good combination value, design, and features.I had a problem with one monolight--it failed after about a minute--smoked big time. [...] I appreciated the quick turn around because I had a wedding shoot scheduled.Since the initial failure was corrected, the lights have worked great. They are easy to set up and have provided good service. A compartmented storage case was part of the package and I am glad it included wheels because the entire package is kind of heavy and the wheels help with moving. The units seem to be well-made (not counting the initial electrical failure[...]) and I like the protective cap that can be placed over the flash/light units to protect them when in storage. I use them with a Nikon D300 and a D80 and once the amount of flash needed is dialed in using a Sekonic meter, they provide consistent lighting for each shot.Overall, I am very pleased with these units [...].
