Comments about Sony LMD-9050 Portable 8.4" HDTV LCD Production Monitor:
I use the monitor for a field monitor and a jib so it's multi-format is perfect for me.
Since I shoot in any format and can mount any camera to my jib, it's nice to have a compact monitor that looks great, especially for HD shoots.
Some things I don't like is that I use the B side for return on live broadcasts and it takes it a couple of seconds to switch the image from the A to B side. The AC power adapter is very bulky compared to the rest of the unit. Why have a nice compact monitor with a big bulky power adapter? For the price Sony could have done better with that set-up. Other than that it's a nice unit. A bit pricey for the HD compatible model (9050), but nice Sony Quality

Comments about Sony LMD-9050 Portable 8.4" HDTV LCD Production Monitor:
As others have mentioned, this monitor has nice features and decent image quality but when the fan kicks in, it sounds like a mini-jet turbine. It is FAR too loud to be used in any critical audio environment such as shooting interviews or actor dialogue. C'mon Sony. You can do better than this.

Comments about Sony LMD-9050 Portable 8.4" HDTV LCD Production Monitor:
Bought one of these from B&H because I needed a hi-def field monitor. Wrong! It's got a noisy fan that kicks in whenever it feels like it. Don't try using it when you're shooting an interview. It's also bulky, and the AC power adaptor is about 2x as big as it needs to be. I suppose it might be OK in a truck, but there are far better field monitors out there.
Comments about Sony LMD-9050 Portable 8.4" HDTV LCD Production Monitor:
Once again sony has engineered a nice piece of equipment but like the cinealta there is a very noisy fan that in my view puts this monitor out of production monitor category.
