This was exactly what I was looking for . . . and even more surprisingly it worked perfectly with the soft box I had picked up cheap from a photographer who went out of business. Not expecting it to go that easy, but it works.

I have been using the Novatron strobes for about 3 years but had always used them with umbrellas. I decided to buy a Westcott softbox (36 X 48) and see how they work with the Novatron lights. I ordered the Speedring from B&H Photo and have been using it it for a about a week. So far it has lived up to my expectations. It does exactly what it says it will do...allow you to use your Novatrons with the Westcott softboxes. Very heavily built. I'll probably order a second one soon. The only disappointment was that it doesn't rotate like the Westcott Speedrings apparently do.

I wanted to use my older style novatrons with a lightbox instead of umbrellas. This adapter works perfectly. Although it doesn't rotate like the traditional speed rings, the adapting conector tilts at right angles which works fine. It's designed to fit almost any lightbox.

The speed ring is a "have to have" purchase with the softbox I purchased. I do like the way it is designed to mount on the light stand, making the attached light box more stable

I bought two of these; one for my new Photoflex Half-Dome and one for an old Photoflex Multi-Dome that I use with an old set of Novatron heads. What a vast improvement over the old squarish plastic connector! This connector is easy to assemble, although you would not think so if you read the instructions; they are poorly written and illustrated in my opinion. The metal ring is very sturdy and connected to my flash heads with ease, although I'm not so sure the plastic knobs will hold up. All in all, like I said, this product is such an improvement over the previous connector that I can't help but like it!

The speedring adaptor is simple to set up and use. It is an effective adaptor in use, one glitch is the larger the softbox the mor interference between the adaptor/stand head and the bottom of the soft box. Another draw back is that the softbox no longer rotates, it needs to be reassembled to be rotated in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. Otherwise I'm thrilled to have an adaptor to use my softboxes on my novatron flash heads. The adaptor is sturdy and mounts fast.

Built nicely. It's very awkard to work with my Novatrons. Wish it could be more like a Bowens mount.

I purchased these rings to rescue my Novatron flash heads. Novatron 2100 flash heads simply can not hold large softboxes, they will eventually fatigue and deform. I bought two of the Photoflex speedrings to go with a pair of Photoflex Q39 boxes. The rings solve the problem, but do so in a way that makes the best of a bad situation. The flash head mounts inside the box, preventing any rotation of the box around the ring. The flash head attaches to the mount adaptor pin by the umbrella mount hole on the bottom of the flash head, unloading the head itself. By positioning the adaptor mounting pin in one of two threaded holes in the ring the rings can mount rectangular and strip boxes in horizontal, vertical or 45 degree positions providing some versatility of mounting position in place of true rotation. The ring comes supplied with a single axis stand adaptor that is machined out of billet metal and looks very substantial. The mount is very strong and worth the price of the whole kit by itself, however out of the two rings I bought one of the adaptors had holes that were incrementally too small to fit the ring or light stand posts!
