Comments about Domke Photogs Vest (X-Large, Black):
The DOMKE PhotTOGS vest is one of those products that you find is either indispisable from the start or it ends up in the back of your closet never to see the light of day again. For me it has quickly become indispensible.Basically it delivers as advertised -- it's roomy, well vented and has a 9,407 pockets that are great for carrying your stuff in the field and, most impotant, it's comfortable. I photograph birds and spend most of my time in the outback of some type or other. I have a large Low-Pro backpack that is fine for humping your gear out to the truck or into a camp site but when you're in the field the backpack is awkward to get at whereas with the vest the cable release is in your upper left pocket and you just pull it out. Lenses, waterbottle, sandwiches, some light rain gear and your filter pouch are all accessible. If you're careful when you load the vest it distributes the load very well and doesn't pull you backwards or put undue pressure on shoulders but obviously it won't carry a tripod or a big prime lens. It's not a replacement for a backpack but it's the next best thing. If I had to do it again I would get the tan not the black -- it's hot and tends to attract little flying horrors. The sizes fit overly large but I intend to use mine over winter clothes so I think it is just fine. The vest is cotton not nylon or some other polyester and so it breathes but I imagine it will weigh a ton when it gets wet -- but hey I've got a rain jacket in the back pocket.

Comments about Domke Photogs Vest (X-Large, Black):
This item is well made and comfortable to wear. There are more than enough pockets and you can carry a lot of items that are easy to access. The large pockets can hold professional camera bodies (Nikon D3s) or lens up to 200mm in size. A much better option than carrying a camera bag around.

Comments about Domke Photogs Vest (X-Large, Black):
I have worn these vests for over twenty years and feel naked without one on. I love the layout and the multiple closed and open pocket configuration. Perhaps my favorite was one they had in nylon many years ago as it held its color better and never tore at the pockets the way the cotton ones do. My main two gripes are they tear at the large bottom pockets if you carry lenses in those pockets and they fade to an ugly color from the pure black. In spite of that I cannot find a better vest,

Beefy construction without being overweight, pockets of the right sizes and in the right places, comfortable fit. I usually take an XL shirt or jacket and the XL size on this vest was just right for me.

I own both the black and khaki versions of this heavy-duty vest, and wear them all the time. They contain so many large, well-distributed pockets that this is the equivalent of being a man's purse. If only there were a third color....
