I use this product just because it looks like a fun little camera, nothing professional, but its great fun you can do double exposure overlapping, panoramic, etc. very easy to use very fun to develop. Remember this camera is more toy then a serious camera, thats why i give it 4 stars.

I use this camera to take experimental outdoor shots. Because of the price I haven't worried about dropping it, but even if you do it can take that hit. The best part about this camera is that it makes film photography simple yet fun. The real challenge for artistic value comes in post production printing or scanning.

The Holga produces some fantastic effects, definitely try it out! I thought with a plastic lens and very few controls that my images would be all over the place, but not so. If you don't know, there's one shutter speed and two f-stops (8 is 'cloudy' and 11 is 'sunny'). There is a bulb setting too. To focus, you choose the relative distance of your subject. I did landscapes and more close-range shots and had success with both. By shooting in fairly strong light (for me this is between 10 and 4 or so) with 400 speed film, I got almost consistent negatives, with a few exceptions. I love high contrast and a wide tonal range and got it without use of filters in the darkroom. I used Fomapan 400 Action film and got good results. I found it easier to load than Kodak.

With the Holga you'll get a nice black vignette on the corners of the frame, so using the entire frame to print has a nice effect, as would using a filed negative carrier. The photo also loses focus around the perimeter, producing a dream-like effect. Despite the fact that the focusing ring is less than precise, my photos all seemed crisp when I printed. I had a light leak every now and then, but it seemed more out of place than a happy accident.

One problem I had was with the back falling off. So make sure the clasps are secured, or you can tape it to make sure. If you dont, you can either advance it or lose 1 shot plus half a frame on either side. So advancing two shots should do the trick, but you'll still lose half an exposure.

I would like to try flash, although it might be a bit trickier because you can't control the f-stop/shutter speed as much. Portraits would also be interesting. Definitely give the Holga a try!

I got this camera basically to experiment with, and get into the wondeful world of medium format. I got got the pictures from the first roll I shot with this camera. In a nutshell, I was "blown away" I truly love this camera. It is a fun camera to use, and it is a welcomed break from the digital age. The things that are great about it...everything! I highly recommend this camera for anyone, especially those who want to dabble in medium format, without spending a fortune. Great camera, if I had to do it all again, I would still buy this camera. Love it, love it, & LOVE IT!!!

I was introduced to the Holga by a professional photographer, and quickly became enamored with the camera and the medium format experience. The Holga is very exciting shooting BW, with each camera giving its own ideosyncratic interpretation of the image. Thus the photographer has to understand both the subject and the medium to achieve the desired result...and this is not simple with a Holga.

I use the produt to try new and very differnt pictures. I want to overlap photos and do my own develloping. It gives you total control over the photo and no control at the same time. You never know what the result will be until yoou develop it. Quite a fantastic tool!

This never leaves my side, it's lighter and smaller than any of my cameras. The pictures are great, and the operation is so simple you hardly have to think before shooting. It takes the mechanics out of photography and lets you be solely focused on making art. It can make the mundane beautiful. The price is great so I bought three so I could disassemble and make it into something different 35mm, pinhole, etc.
