It is a great solution if you don't have enough USB/Firewire ports. Does not work well with my Bose system. I have to unplug every now and then and is becoming very annoying.
Directions are not so easy to follow.

I use this hub to route all of my various MIDI synths and keyboards to my studio computer. The lights that indicate which port is being used are great and that the manufacturer chose to use different colors for USB or firewire is a plus. This hub can be powered by either firewire or USB and was plug and play for me. The construction does feel flimsy so as long as you plan to keep this product stationary, it will do its job well. I am buying a second one for my hard drives.

I use this product to connect all of my USB storage devices and firewire hardware (2 HDV decks, etc), works really well. However, the cheap rubber shoe to allow it to stand upright is worthless, so I use it on its side. Overall a great product for the price!

I purchased this item mainly for the extra Firewire ports.
Very easy to setup, it was plug and go. The one Firewire port and USB port on the front makes it easy to swap devices such as portable memory card readers.
Would have preferred if it had a few more Firewire ports as I use one of the 3 ports, instead of the power adapter, to power the device.

works fine, but it requires two cable connections to the computer. One for usb, the other for firewire. The included cables are too big and bulky. I don't use the product much because of the amount of space it requires. The power to the unit shuts off when its disconnected to the computer, therefore making it ineffective as just a charger for my ipod and iphone. I'm not a fan
