Comments about Custom Brackets CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket:
I purchased this just to get my flash off my DSLR, and allow me to flip my flash when I go to portrait orientation. My expectation was to have something strong enough to keep my camera and flash together without being too flimsy. It works as I had hoped and holds my camera/flash solidly. Because it is a 'short' bracket, it allows me to use it for urban/photojournalist field trips and not get in the way like a larger bracket. So now I use it more than I originally planned and prefer to keep my camera/flash mounted to it.
When I first got the bracket, I thought some of the parts were made of thick plastic because the bracket is so light and the black paint seemed more like plastic than painted metal. However, after close inspection, you can see it is CNC machined aluminum, assembled with metal screws in all the right places. This makes it strong and lightweight, a real plus. The top part of the bracket which holds the flash maintains position through a ball and spring mechanism with notches for each position. It's not so strong where you need a strong arm to flip it, but not so weak where the flash bounces up and down. The foam grip for the left hand is comfortable, but I anticipate it would tear after a few years of use, but I'd hope to get my money out of the bracket by that time.
Before buying this bracket, I noticed others had complained about their mounted flash swiveling due to the lack of a metal bracket 'holding' the hot shoe connector square to the frame. The only lock down is the thumb screw through the top plate of the bracket. To eliminate this issue, I purchased a $.39 rubber washer to go between the bracket and my hot shoe connector. With this solution, there is enough friction to keep the flash snug without any movement.
Unless you're looking for a bracket to hold a softbox, three speedlights, drinks, and a ton of other accessories, this is a great bracket for simple uses.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket:
This is a good flash bracket that is strong and attaches easily to the camera. I would also recommend that you buy an anti-twist mount for your flash gun to keep the flash gun lined up with the shooting area, otherwise you are reliant on tightening the thumb screw to keep it in line, which is not very effective.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket:
I recently bought the CB digital-T (tall) bracket and returned it because it was too bulky and awkward for me. I decided to try this one (S - short) and it is perfect. It securely holds my camera and flash. It is much more compact than the CB digital-T bracket. This size is perfect for my small hands and gives me more stability when shooting. There is just enough room inside the bracket for my camera, battery grip and flash cord (leaving about 1 inch of space between the flash cord and the rotating arm.) Love it!!!

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket:
I purchased this bracket to mount a video camera from the sunroof of my car. I have a suction mount which would mount the camera inverted. This bracket has threads and slots which gave me the versitility to use in this odd manner.
I would have given 5 stars but the hinge doesn't lock. Which this is most likely fine if the product is used as advertised, I would like to be able to lock it for my use.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket:
It's a simple flash bracket. Top flips over for vertical shooting. I can't see needing anything more in a bracket. Hinge might be a little flimsy but if not abused should last.

Comments about Custom Brackets CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket:
The CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket is a very convenient and efficient way to use a flash off camera. In all the pictures I've taken using it--quite a few--I never had to worry about "redeye." Moreover, because the bracket makes for a fixed off-camera flash positioning, the resulting pictures are predictable and consistently well-lighted. I no longer worry about how high I should hold the flash or, worse, whether the equipment is facing the subject. I use the bracket with a Nikon Coolpix 8700.

Bracket is used to get the external flash unit above and away from the D-SLR camera, to reduce red-eye, and to produce a better bounce flash.
