Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
Before I would hold my lens in place with my hand and would get varying results. This reversing ring makes macro simple and affordable.
And the metal is far more durable than the strippable plastic rings.

Use in reverse with lenses which have 52mm thread.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
The reversing ring worked as advertised but I would only use it in a pinch. I mounted it on an old unused 50mm Nikkor. You must place the reversed lens very close to the subject. Then you don't focus anything but instead move the camera body back and forth until sharp focus is achieved. A tripod is almost a must. However, it does give decent micro shots and saves the weight of carrying around a real micro lens. Also, get the Nikon BR3 filter adapter for 52mm threads or its equivalent for other lens sizes.

This small adapter is a must for Macro Photogtaphy. I use primarily on my 24 mm lens.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
This works beautifully on my D40 and 35mm f/1.8 prime Nikkor. And the close-up one gets is better than a 1:1 dedicated macro lens, IMHO. For what it costs, its a no brainer for anyone who wants to try macro photography.

use it to flip my 50mm/1.8 around. It does what it's supposed to. A bit expensive for a metal ring, perhaps, but I find the threads on the filter-side are much better than the plastic rings other brands sell.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
I have used this device too shoot quite small insects reversing my micro 105 and 60. It does help but you need a steady hand and respiration control or use a tripod with the macro focusing device. Use enough light since the DOF will shrink. Don't forget to buy its companion listed as required.

It's solid. A quality reversing ring. Sure it's more expensive as a name brand, but it's solid metal. You get what you pay for.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
This is pretty good for a cheap way to shot some macro. I had the best results with my 50mm prime G type lens. Using a tripod pointed straight down, I set the lens to infinity and then focus with the tripod moving the body up or down.
I wouldn't use this out in the field due to the back glass element being exposed. But Nikon does make an adapter to add a filter for that problem. Users with live view will have a easier time too.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
You should use this with lenses with an aperture ring (i.e. non-G lenses for Nikon) unless you have a way to control the aperture.
A cheap 50mm lens with 52mm thread, of any brand, becomes a good alternative to a real macro lens as it provides with 1:1 magnification without compromises to its quality.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
It does exactly what it is supposed to do, it allows one to flip a 52mm diameter lens for macro(micro) filter. I use this with a D700 and a D200, and my 50mm 1.4 and 1.8 lenses. Some may complain about the loss of auto focus, but when you are dealing with such a narrow depth of field, who cares. You do have to take your time threaing the lens. I recommend a BR-3 so you can place a protective filter over the end of the lens. I hate dust.

I recommend attaching the BR-2A to the camera body, then screwing your lens onto the adapter. Less stress on the filter threads that way.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
I have a wonderful old 50mm 1.4 lens. I learned from a colleague that if I use the lens reversed, I could get extremely close for marco work. It works beautifully. I am very happy with the results and plan to use it a lot, especially for flower petals.

The product is very well made and fits both the camera and the lens perfectly. It works as I expected however I quickly discovered that the depth of field is critical and shallow.

Comments about Nikon BR-2A Lens Reversing Ring:
This little piece of metal will allow you to get really close to your subject, but don't plan on getting very many photos in focus if your subject happens to be moving.
I'm pleased with how it's built. It feels very sturdy, and it's definitely going to outlast most of my other equipment. But the depth of field is so shallow, achieving perfect focus is a matter of moving the camera back and forth a matter of millimeters. Now that I own this piece of gear, I realize it definitely doesn't replace a real macro lens. But it is fun and, I think, worth the money.
