This is a well-made, precise device that should be included in your box of macro accessories.

Used in tandem with a Reverse Adapter Ring, you get macro abilities for a fraction of the cost. I was able to take my 50mm f/1.8 that many Nikon users have and take some great close-up shots. Unfortunately there's no auto focus, but you're so close anyway, just shifting an inch or two will bring the object in and out of focus. It's not an actual REPLACEMENT for a macro lens, but definitely lets you get some great shots for a few bucks.

This is quite useful if you want to put a filter onto a reversed lens.I took off one star because the release mechanism was a little flimsy and it is tricky to get the coupling pin to disengage.

Put this over the body mount of your lens if you're using a reversing ring like the BR-2A. Grab yourself a UV filter or something to put on the filter side. I find that the locking tab isn't quite aligned right, so in order to actually use it you have to either crank the piece on really tight, or just not lock it in place (it won't go anywhere, just the lock doesn't function).

I use this with the BR-2A reverse ring. Get a filter to keep dust and dirt from the rear elements of the lens. With the filter mounted you'll need to find a way to manually hold the aperture open if no aperture ring.

If you're reverse mounting your lens you'll want this to mount filters to the backside of the lens. At the minimum, you'll need it to protect the rear element with a UV filter.

I recently bought this to use in reversing a 28mm ai for macro work. It is necessary to use in tandem with the BR-2A lens reversing ring. One can tell that it is a very sturdy ring, and seems to be built with the standards of very good manual focus lenses. There have been zero issues with this product.

Also, with the very low field of view you get when you reverse a lens like this, what has worked best for me was to set the focus on the lens at infinity, place the camera on a tripod, and move the camera or subject forward and backward to achieve focus. Do this with the aperture as far open as possible, then close the aperture down to its most closed.

Of course, it takes me some effort, because my D70s uses a pentamirror rather than a pentaprism. Always ask to make sure what camera you are looking at in a store uses a pentamirror or pentaprism. By far, the worst feature of my camera, for my uses.

This allows you to run conventional attachments (filters) on a (52mm thread)lens you have reversed with the BR-2A Reversing ring.

Thought the metal is very hard it served my purpose in attaching all the filters i had while shooting the macro photos by reversing the lens.

This ring is a must if you by a reversing ring.
