Thse cables are really awesome! Well shielded, high quality rubber and plastic...built to last and a really good price for a moderately obscure connector combination.

Needed a breakout cable for a Sony PTZ camera for HD signal. This cable did the trick. Couldn't even find a cable for it from Sony themselves. This is the one!

I wanted to use this cable to connect a computer VGA output to an HDTV component input. Other reviewers said it would not work in that application, but I tried it anyway. I should have believed the other reviewers. It didn't work so I returned the cable. I rated it 1* only because it didn't work in my application. Perhaps B&H could state the applications for which it is suitable on the Website.

5 yrs ago, I bought a Panasonic flat screen moniter instead of the home TV model. It was much less money and a great set (still is), the only problem was that it only had 3 inputs...one composite (for VCR), one component(for cable box) and one PC. This left me one component port short for a DVD player. VGA to component cables like this one were very expensive at the time, so I bought a switch box instead.
When I recently saw the price of VGA-component cables had come down, I decided to give it a try. This one is great. I plugged the VGA 15 pin connecter into the moniter's PC port and the RCA's into the cable box. I think the picture is even better than it was before...and getting rid of that switch box and the two additional cables it used is a good thing.
Three points: 1) as the other reviewer said, this cable will not work from the VGA port of computer into the RCA port of a TV or moniter.
2) for the audio, you will probable have to have an RCA to 3.5mm cable (very inexpensive).
3) I had to change one moniter setting from 'RGB' to 'component'. Before doing that the picture was green.

ordered this cable for my new monitor that I got to hook up component to my VGA and it does the trick. all gold contacts is nice to have. But let me remind you this isnt for goin out of the computer. its not VGA to component its component to VGA. I dont beleive the other way will work without a converter. Now I gotta try to find a S-Video to Component in the near future for my next hook up trick and I think its gonna be more trickier, so I dont kno.
