I thought I was just ordering simple C-stands not unlike the ones I used in film school. But once they arrived and I assembled them, I knew I had purchased some of the best C-stands out there. Super sturdy and reliable.
The grip handles are larger, and this makes using them even better. The best feature, however, is the slip-ring at the bottom for the legs. You just pull it up and let the legs swing out, into place, then release the ring and they are locked into place. How easy is that!? Plus, I used them for lighting this past week and had a 1k light attached to the arm, they are so strong and sturdy I didn't even need a counter-balance for the light. Great product.

Could be sturdier.
The Stand itself is good. I like the base locking mechanism for the legs. It really makes that portion of the set-up a breeze. Unfortunately, every second you gain from that and then some is lost when the grip heads stick... and they do stick. You need to keep a long, thick screwdriver on you at all times to pry it loose.
Like at least one other reviewer has mentioned, in the future I think I'll just get the stand alone and buy some Avenger, Manfrotto or Matthews Grips to go along with it.

I definitely intend to buy another one of these stands. The biggest drawback is the price, but man, this stand is burly. It's also incredibly versatile. A must for the studio. Hair lights, background lights, gaffer uses, whatever. This can handle it.

This can do everything that a c-stand should. It's incredibly sturdy and will probably be working in the industry long after I am dead- and I'm only 33. I have a thing for c-stands, so this was one of the best un-boxings that I have ever experienced. Solid purchase.

These c stands looked a little different than the ones I was use to using but because they were cheeper than most other stands I decided to buy a few. I thought I might run in to problems with these stands because of how much cheaper they were than others. The funny thing is, I would say that they are the best c stands that I have ever come across.
They are a bit heavier than some of the ones I have used in the past but they look and feel sturdy. It also has a lot of little features that make them stand out from other stands. The legs are able to come off the stand if you need to make room for other equipment in your vehicle or bag by just unscrewing a wing nut at the bottom. The legs also have this cool feature where you slide up a little lever on the neck of the legs and you just swing the legs into their positions and let the lever go back into place and you're all set. This little feature is so easy that I can do it with one hand. The boom arm is also a really nice addition and is built to last.
These stands look and feel like they will last longer then the next five generations of cameras and lights I buy, which is saying something. Over all I would say these c stands are one of the best deals I have ever run across.

I use this stand in the studio with Photoflex Medium Softboxes and Comet/Dyna-lite Twinkle Strobes. Have owned 4 mos now & will be ordering a 2nd one. Love the freedom & room it has given my studio by getting the stand out of the way & off to the side. I can have a softbox up over camera now for groups or overhead directly behind subjects as hair light. I can position the lights just about anywhere in my studio now and still keep the stands out of the way & off to the sides. When it arrived I was surprised how solidly constructed & heavy duty for being priced just over a hundred... amazing deal! Would have liked in black as I worried about reflections in catch-lights of eyes, but haven't noticed any as they do sit out off to side (& the solid metal is preferred over black plastic parts anyways). I like how it comes with all you need in the kit. I have a sandbag I drop over the stand leg as a precaution, however it holds fairly solidly without as its own counter weight holds it pretty sturdily. B&H rep found and recommended this one to me when I'd been considering a more expensive version by another brand, & this was a heavier duty stand with a WAAAY better price! Another reason I'm a B&H buyer for life!! Thanks B&H!!!

This C-stand is absolutely fantastic! I cannot be happier. Super solid build with, what makes this better than any other c-stand I've used, a base lock that quickly opens and closes. No more straining to open the legs! Just needs air cushioning.

Great c-stand! The quick lock release on the legs is a feature I've never seen before, but it's so much better and reliable than the stick spring-loaded c-stands I'm used to, or the swingy loose knob tightening models.
Only downside is the stand seems a little heavier than average.

I bought this stand to hold my 22" beauty dish out on the boom arm so I could easily get right under it to shoot my subject. Works perfectly and is super easy to setup. Not lightweight, but that's the point.
