Great product. It adds much needed ballast to the small 400D(XTi) body. The extended shooting time by using 2 NB-2LH batteries at a time is also very good. The added functionality of being compatible with 6 AA's is also very convenient when you get stuck in a situation where you do not have time to charge, but you need to shoot.
The ability to shoot vertically without twisting your arm is also very convenient and the buttons are right where you need them to be - that control the things you need them to control. Great product, don't go for the "knock-off" brand - get the in-house Canon BG-E3!
The added weight and stability with larger lenses is good. Having my L telephotos on the front of the 400D makes it front heavy, but with the grip it balances out nicely. I don't mind extra weight or bulk - makes life easier. It doesn't really weigh all that much though - if it does you need to hit the gym.

This is a great upgrade if you're looking for power autonomy, want to be able to run on AAs or get hand fatigue after a long day shooting in portrait mode. However, it is actually bigger than what I expected as it oversizes the Xti body by 40-50%. Unless I don't have access to a power outlet, I'm carrying it. Otherwise, I prefer using the regular body and keep more charged NB-2LH batteries which takes less space in my bag.

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
I like the vertical hold and buttons and the dual battery trays for the AA and Canon lithium-ion batteries gives me a lot of ability for a quick change and continued shooting. The extra mass of the battery/vertical grip helps offset the weight when the 430EX-II flash and various lenses are attached.
The only negative is that it eats AA batteries, even photo/electronic batteries after about 250 shots.

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
Like others have said, "wish I would have gotten this sooner." Makes everything just a bit heavier especially with my 70-200 lens but its worth it to have the extra battery and with big hands it gives me a little more control of the camera.

The battery grip fits the camera perfectly and is easy to "install". It makes the camera feel much more balanced, especially when the flash is attached, and makes it easier to hold. I definitely recommend purchasing this battery grip.

Love the battery grip. Controls for portrait shooting are very handy, not to mention addition of and extra battery pack allows for extended shooting. The added weight also makes for a solid feel.

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
Cannon XTi is a smaller camera, I like the way it fits in my hands now. I am an amateur photographer shooting amateur sports. Never worry about running out of power. I keep the AA battery pack as the backup. Finally figured out how to take the battery door off (after about 20 min. Slide the spring pin... seems obvious now)

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
I've debated over purchasing this item for a while and was pleased with my purchase. It was easy to install and I was up and going in a few minutes. I like that I can now hold two batteries at a time and I have the option of using AAs if I need to. (I have not tried this feature out yet). I purchased this model instead of the other ones for the vertical shutter release. It does add some weight to your camera but for me the added weight and size made the camera more comfortable to hold. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't seem 100% secure. I haven't had any problem with it, but just a tug will pull the battery holder away from the camera. It may be that I don't know the proper method to lock it down. It if weren't for this I'd give it five stars.

I love having this battery grip. It balances the camera much better. I love being able hold the camera normal when shooting vertically. It also is nice to have the ability to use AA batteries even though I don't see myself ever using it.

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
I've only had the BG-E3 grip a short time but it works as expected with no suprises. My Rebel XTi feels much more substantial, making me want to lose the neckstrap and just carry it. The grip has made me able to shoot at slightly slower shutter speeds due to the extra weight, and it's much more natural to shoot in portrait orientation now. I have an extra Canon battery, so it's nice to have both in the grip at one time. I shoot f2.8 lenses, and the added weight on the back end balances the camera better.
It does add some weight and a camera bag may get a little tighter with the extra size, so take that into account. I have not used the AA battery tray so I can't comment on it other than it seems to be a little on the frail side. If you are used to laying your camera flat down on a table, it won't do that now. However, all those nitpicks are just that. If you want the most out of your XT or XTi go for it.
To me, for the price B&H sells the BG-E3, this addition is a no-brainer.

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
I have a vertical grip for my A2E. When I decided to buy an XTI I started looking for a vertical grip. This Vertical grip helps me to hold the camera steady in the vertical position. I like having the option to use AA batteries if needed. If you plan to do much vertical shooting, I would recommend getting one of these.

The grip is great, add's the needed weight to the camera and really stabilizes it. Makes it feel like a real camera for sure haha. Awesome for vertical shooting, no more awkward arm angles. I use it everyday for all my shooting
I would definitely recommend this grip, and for the low price that b&h sells it for how could you go wrong

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
It does it's job admirably. It does NOT come with an extra battery, but once you buy one and pop it in there, its great. My biggest problem with it is that i found the extra grip more comfortable than my camera's regular grip! Honestly, its a bit pricey since it doesnt come with a battery, but the attachment to run the camera off 6 AA's is rather nice.

I've had the grip for 4 weeks now & I haven't taken it off yet. I use this product all the time. The only time it comes off is when I am charging the batteries. I especially like how the camera feels more balanced and easier to grip. for all that say its to heavy, I'm sorry but you need to do some push-ups or bicep curls. ENJOY!!!!!

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
I purchased both the BG-E2N BATTERY GRIP for my EOS 40D and the BG-E3 BATTERY GRIP for my DIGITAL REBEL XT (350D). Read the reviews on the aftermarket competitors, compared prices and went with Canon. Upon receipt, my expectations were confirmed. Fit, finish, solid construction and flawless operation, as expected. Canon costs more, but it is worth it to me. I use the 40D with grip and Sigma 150-500mm w/stabilization for outdoor nature photography and moon photos. I use the Rebel XT primarily with the Canon 100mm Macro lens for Macro photos of butterflies, insects, small critters and flowers. The grips really improve the balance of both cameras with the heavier lenses and provide easy access to controls whether shooting in landscape or portrait orientation.
No shortcomings or negative aspects with either grip. Highly recomended!

During our trip to St Croix I never had to worry about battery life, even with my 70-200 IS lens. Battery grip provided me with all the power I needed and more ease when turning the camera for vertical pictures. Highly recommend.

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
I was long overdue in making this addition to my camera. Regardless of whether you are shooting sports, portraits, or just some quick candid shots, having a second set of controls at your fingertips when shooting vertical makes your photographic experience a much more enjoyable experience. If you are serious about your photographic work, this piece of equipment is really a must have, regardless of the camera model you are working with. I found the additional weight actually to be a nice balance when using my 70-200 2.8 IS lens.
The AA battery adapter is a nice option to have, although I'll admit I haven't needed to use it.
This grip is rugged and feels very comfortable in the hands.

Comments about Canon BG-E3 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder:
No matter what kind of camera you own, a battery grip should be mandatory as your first accessory purchase.
Not only does this help extend your shooting to all day without having to change a battery, but it also helps with handling the camera and taking vertical photos with the extra shutter button.
Again, no questions asked, buy it!
