Mola Demi 22" "Beauty Dish" Soft Lite Reflector (White)
The Mola Demi 22" "Beauty Dish" Reflector has a unique patented design that captures and focuses light with maximum efficiency. It is shaped to intercept all paths of light, no matter which direction they leave the flash tube, and redirect them toward the subject. This is a big improvement on most square boxlights, which can only focus a portion of the light available.
This is the Demi, 22" model with a white reflective surface. Its size is perfect for portraits, and mounts to your strobe head via your Chimera, Photoflex, or other brand Speed Ring Insert -- available separately.

- Mola Euro and Demi create an even core of light surrounded by a smoothly graduated feathered edge... about a half a stop difference from the center to outer edge.
- The handle combines a stand adapter and a handgrip in one which evenly distributes the weight of the reflector, balancing and stabilizing the reflector solidly over a light stand or boom.

Great dish - I also have the bigger mola monsters but this is great for traveling.
Only gripe is I wish the opal plate and other misc. parts came as standard.
I use the tenba CC22 car case to transport this. It's a squeeze with grids, but better than nothing.

Have done my time with umbrellas, softboxes and even other dish-type reflectors. Should've gotten a Mola to start with! Put it off because of the cost, but finally got one. This 22" size is perfect for my studio, and on location (and location bags are made for this size). Had eyed the Setti, but 8.5lb is too heavy! Light quality and color are superb! No buyers regret here!

After reading several reviews and hearing from beauty dish users of Mola and many other brands, I ordered a Mola Demi 22" Soft Lite from B&H.
Since I received the dish, I have shot a couple of sessions with this dish: One with a Nikon Speedlight SB800, and one with a 620 WS studio monoblock light.
The quality of light with a short fall off disatnce is great. I don't think any other modifier could provide this kind of light. The distinctive shadows from this dish is not replicable by other modifiers.
One thing not cool is that this dish ships with the perforated metal deflector. I understand it used to be a frosted glass one before. Instead of replacing the glass one for the metal if they gave me the option to get both and switch them as I need, then it would have been perfect.
I would recommend that Mola makes a few smaller sizes of dishes as well...12" and 16" diameters will be of great use.

This was the 3rd addition to my Mola Softlight collection. I havent used it extensively yet, but I love many things about it. With a small flash setup, such as my profoto acuteb2, it is the perfect portable lighting modifier for run-and-gun photography. It is a very efficient modifier, Im getting very high f-stop readings from a 600w pack.
I love using it for full length and beauty closeups. I think it will be on par with the setti I own for what will be most used in my colleciton.

I emailed Mola to find out what was needed to mount the Demi on my photogenic 2500's, they responded within a few hours. Great customer service, great repuation, and a great product. Came with a sock. I also ordered the grid straight from their site- it arrived within 2 days.

I use this reflector in my studio attached to 750 WS monolight. It functions mainly as a key light with the Euro as a companion fill light (see my review of the Euro). The quality of light is something I have been searching for for years. It is a good Beauty Light with a beautiful face or lined face that you want to show the character of. Very controllable. With the front diffuser attached, the light is very even edge to edge.
