The age of digital miniaturization has reached the Radio Slave category, with the MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave System. Using a hot shoe mount transmitter about the size of a CompactFlash memory card, it instantly sends a wake-up AND triggering signal to its mated Phono, or Mono Plug style receiver plugged directly into your strobe pack or monolight. Any off-camera flash that has a PC sync terminal may also be fired, using an optional sub-mini to PC sync cord.
This 4 channel system functions through walls, at distances of up to 100 feet, and works with a top camera shutter speed of 1/180 second. The default channel is #1, but the frequency may be reset easily, should there be any local radio interference.
Note: Does not work with Speedotron Black Line packs built 1999 or before. The use of a Wein Safe Sync is highly reccomended for use with any Speedotron power pack, because of their high sync voltages.

I am a big fan of the Nikon Creative Lighting System (CLS). I didn't need a trigger for my flashes, just to fire the camera. I needed something that would still allow me to use the CLS the way I like. This meets my requirements. It connects without difficulty and requires no additional setup stuff to mess with. Connect and fire. What could be easier? I bought the optional 10-pin connector cable that works with my D300 and this thing works great. The optional wallet is perfect for carrying the whole package. I recommend it highly.

Nice portable design, but unfortunately never got one that worked. Tried two kits before requesting a refund. Problem was with the receivers in both. Neither would sync or power on. Tested with two different light kits from different manufacturers. Tested the transmitter with the receiver of a co-workers kit and worked fine. Tested the receiver with his transmitter and did not work. [...] Looking to replace with an Elinchron Universal kit shortly.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
Professional Studio Use
We had a real problem with other triggers not firing the strobes consistently. This really has made a difference.
This trigger works from different rooms, regardless of angle or interference, and we've only had one instance where it didn't fire properly out of hundreds if not thousands of uses.
What's not so good? No idea. Haven't had any issues at all. The only thing I can see is maybe some internal battery going dead?

Works great for stable, studio work. Has some misfires here and there and the occasional no-fire, but overall a great product for the price.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
Been using these for years. I mostly use them in studio & indoor settings. It's a low-profile setup, and I like how they plug directly into my strobes. Thus, it makes for a quick setup. They have always worked very reliably for me.
They could benefit if the manufacturer raised the sync a tad, but it's not an issue for what I use them for.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
I have not real experience with the product yet so cannot speak to range or other qualities but can provide some advice if your intent is to use this to trigger a Genesis 200 Monolight. I assume a Genesis 400 would behave similarly.
To get this to work with the Genesis monolight you'll need the PC to Sub-Mini adapter. The 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter will not work. You'd assume, like me, that if it all snaps together properly, it ought to work. But the voltage requirements of the 1/4" connector on the receiver are different (higher) than those for the 2.5 Sub Mini connector on the receiver. Check out the mfg website to see where the 2.5mm connection is located on the receiver. You might also think that a cable with a 3.5mm Mini on each end would work, but it doesn't either.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
Other hotshoe transmitters look like oldfashioned cellphones stuck to the camera hotshoe. Not the MicroSync! The small unit mounts easily and stays out of the way. The reciever just plugs into my Paul Buff White Lightnings. It can't be much simpler than that.

This is worth every penny in my own opinion. The RF range is awesome! Total control and not just line of sight like IR remotes.
I had one issue.. trying to decide to buy based solely on the pictures the company and web sites provide. B&H got it correct! I understood what I was buying and how it worked before I even got the product.
Excellent choice if you wan to fire your DSLR without being tied down to a 6ft cable.

Works like magic.
I am not limited by sync cord length..., obviously.
The best thing is that it works with my 30 years old Bowen mono light which I was afraid to connect to my digital camera. It saved me from buying whole new studio light set.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
I bought it the first time it didn't work with my photoflex starlite nor with any impact monolights, I sent it back and I got a new one that doesn't work either, maybe is the voltage on the strobe that is not sufficient or I was two times lucky with a non working item.. Either way that shows how unreliable it really is, and if you need another accessory to make it work as I read in some reviews, then they aren't selling you a working kit...

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
I purchased the 1/4 plug version and I couldn't make it sync with my Strobelites from Westcott.
Turns out the strobes are operating at a much lower voltage range and the receiver was not recognizing it. MicroSync did a good job by sending me an adapter to use the PC sync port instead. The transmitter also wasn't making good electrical contact with my hotshoe, I had to be creative in order to make it work.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
the product was very good when it worked - it fired 75% of the time, and I would often have to unplug and replug the receiver into the flash. The batteries were brand new and the cord was as well. Good price, but might be worth it to purchase a product little bit higher quality to ensure it works.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
This is my second purchase. On this particular unit, the transmitter is a little loose in the hot shoe, and needs a piece of paper wedged in to make good contact. I contacted the manufacture and they weren't too concerned with my particular issue. Guess that's the last time I will buy from them.

Comments about MicroSync Digital 4 Channel Radio Slave Kit:
Works exactly as described. Took literally two minutes to asemble and start using and that included unpackaging and installing the batteries. I use it for triggering my head and pack system and I literally plugged it in and it worked. Allows me to move around the studio to do automotive photography as well as more creative people photography.
