I purchased this adapter to use with the Finder Eyepiece f/FM2/FE2/FA and DK-3 Rubber Eyecup to add a rubber eyecup to my Nikon D300. Piecing these together, which is quite easy, gives you a removable rubber eyecup that can block unwanted light from the viewfinder and make viewing of the scene and viewfinder information easier in bright light.
However, this adapter also accepts other Nikon eyepiece attachments. I have used it with an old (but mint condition!) Nikon Right Angle Viewing Attachment. Certain other attachments from older F series film cameras can be used with the D300 using this adapter. Be sure to check that your application is appropriate!
Adapter is hard plastic, so it is light, but it is not as durable as if it were metal.

I purchased this, along with the DK-3 rubber eyecup and FM/FE/FA finder eyepiece, so I could have a round eyepiece/eyecup for my D300. I really like this setup, and while others have mentioned a slight vignetting problem, I have encountered no vignetting issues with my own gear, so long as my eye is positioned dead-center. I find that the eyecup blocks extraneous light much better than the standard eyepiece for the D300 as it wraps gently around my eye socket, and I also find it to be more comfortable.
As for the adapter itself, it's a piece of plastic, and I worry about its durability. I've had to attach and remove it a couple of times, and each time I feel like I might break it. With my setup I don't have the need to attach and remove it nearly as much as those who use this with a right-angle viewfinder; still I bought an extra just in case. At least the price is low enough to make the occasional replacement pretty easy on the wallet.

Simply plastic piece but with a precision fit. Used this to adapt the Nikon DK-3 Rubber Eyecup for use on a D90. Requires a few drops of glue. Simple. Works perfectly.

I use this with the DK-3 RUBBER EYECUP f/FM2/FE2/FA on my Nikon D7000 and it does exactly what it is supposed to (in conjunction with the NIEPFM2 Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series, required to make the whole set-up work).

Comments about Nikon DK-22 Eyepiece Adapter for Select SLR:
I purchased this adapter to use with my D300 so I could use one of the proper round rubber eyecups; I had lost the little square rubber eye"cup" that came with the camera.
This adapter forces the accessory back a bit, so your eye probably ends slightly further away from the viewfinder than it used to prior to its use, but otherwise it fits nice and snug and I don't think I have to worry about losing it or anything attached to it by accident. Turns out that it also fits my D80, though it wasn't listed under the compatible cameras.

I bought this adapter for my nikon FM10 to use with DK-3 Rubber Eyecup. I found that it need one more piece to hold this two together which is a round viewfinder eye piece for nikon. It works as expected but if you wear eyeglasses then you might see some vignette due to depth added.

Comments about Nikon DK-22 Eyepiece Adapter for Select SLR:
I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED USING NIKONS RUBBER EYE CUPS AND I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO GO WITHOUT ON MY
D 300 BECAUSE OF THE RECTANGULAR EYEPIECE. LUCKILY NIKON CAME UP WITH THIS. IT ALLOWED ME TO INSTALL THE DK 6 RUBBER EYECUP. IT CAUSES A VERY SLIGHT CORNER KNOCKOFF IN THE VIEW FINDER BUT I FEEL IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO WORRY ABOUT. DONT FORGET TO BUY THE ADDITIONAL ROUND EYEPIECE. YOU WILL NEED IT IF INSTALLING THE EYE CUP

Comments about Nikon DK-22 Eyepiece Adapter for Select SLR:
Used in conjunction with DK-3 rubber eyecup and f/FM2 finder eyepiece one can assemble an eyepiece that covers the whole eye. Much better than the standard eyepice that comes with the D-300. The DK-22 fits snuggly to the camera and firmly seats the threads of the f/FM2 finder eyepiece.

Comments about Nikon DK-22 Eyepiece Adapter for Select SLR:
Not much to say here except that any photographer should look into purchasing an eye cup. This adapter is the necessity to get the job done for the applicable cameras. It is easy to install and the eyecup that attaches cancels out any light from entering from the sides.

Comments about Nikon DK-22 Eyepiece Adapter for Select SLR:
This product paired with the DK3 eyecup and eyepiece is the most helpful add-on I have purchased. This blocks out outside light while pulling your face away from the LCD screen all without blocking the viewfinder or any of it's information.
Comments about Nikon DK-22 Eyepiece Adapter for Select SLR:
Well, there's not much exciting to say about this accessory, other than if your body is a model listed in the description, and you want to use a viewfinder accessory from a higher-end Nikon, you probably need to get this too.

Comments about Nikon DK-22 Eyepiece Adapter for Select SLR:
You can either use this to adapt your DR-5 Right Angle Viewfinder to Nikon cameras with square-mount viewfinder apertures (all except D3-series and D700), or you can buy a separate (DR-6) Right Angle Viewfinder for use on those other cameras. This is by far the cheapest solution. I now use my DR-5 with my D90 and D300s as well as my D700 and D3s. Great. I would be happier if it was metal or sturdier plastic, but it seems to do the job okay and the price is reasonable compared to the alternative of purchasing a DR-6 just for my other cameras. It can get lost in your bag easily. A little lanyard hole and a red nylon cord would make it easier to find.
