I'm sure that this is a fine replacement part for the appropriate camera; however, I purchased this, along with the DK-22 eyepiece adapter and the DK-3 rubber eyecup, so I could have a round eyepiece/eyecup for my D300. I really like this setup, and while others have mentioned a slight vignetting problem, I have encountered no vignetting issues with my own gear, so long as my eye is positioned dead-center. I find that the eyecup blocks extraneous light much better than the standard eyepiece for the D300, and I also find it to be more comfortable. I also feel like this eyepiece, which does contain glass, gives an added layer of protection over the D300's viewfinder. If you want a round eyecup for your D300, this is a good way to go.

The glass is superbe. Also it feels the DK-22 adapter. Which is a good thing because i can use it on my Dslrs with DK-22 adapter or on my FE.

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
I use this eyepiece on my D90 and it works great. Just remember to buy all 3 pieces to make this work (Eyepiece adaptor, Rubber eyecup and the eyepiece finder). I use the DK-3 eyecup, and I love the snug fit on the eye. I now have a lot less light coming in through the viewfinder, which makes it easier to see the camera settings.
The DK-3 eyecup is quite large and it does cover a small portion of the LCD screen. For me this is not an issue, but if you have a swivel LCD screen the eyecup might be in the way.
The only con I can mention is that this eyepiece does get a bit loose over time, so you need to tighten it every now-and-again, otherwise it will fall out.

Works well with DK-3 Eyecup and DK-22 Eyepiece adaptor on my D90 for a great eyecup mod. More expensive than the Hoodeye but worth the money. Not as bulky.

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
Somehow or another I had lost the rubberized finder eyepiece for for my Nikon FE.[...]This piece is essential for those of us who wear glasses because the rubber surrounding the REAL glass protects our lenses. This piece also serves as a dust seal for the FE/FM/FA viewfinders.

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
In conjunction with the DK-3 Rubber Eyecup and Eyepiece Adapt f/N2-4-5, this works as advertised on the Nikon D300. It works better if you don't wear glasses. I had to figure out how the 3 pieces worked together since directions were sparse.

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
I use this eyepiece with a DK-3 eyecup on my DP-2 prism (F2 series). Nikon still makes the old style eyepiece for the F, F2, F3(non HP), and F3AF, but I couldn't find an eyecup to go with it. It seems to block a little bit of the finder on the DP-2, but it screws on fine. My main gripe is that they don't make an anti-fog version.

I got this, the rubber eyecup, and eyepiece adapter to put on my D300s. Love it. much more comfortable than the OEM eyepiece. And it keeps my face further away from the back of the camera...make sure you order all three pieces

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
Used along with a D-3 eyecup and an eyepiece adapter one can build an eyepiece that covers the eye - much better than the standard one with the D300. This does what it's intended to do and is sturdy.

Bought this with the eye cup and adapter for the D3000. So far it has worked great. Does what they said it would do. Blocks almost all extra light. I will be adding one of these with the eye cup to every camera I own.

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
I have a couple of older Nikon 35mm cameras. I lost one eyepiece and the other one had the rubber edge on the eyepiece wear out. These work great to protect the viewfinder and my glasses from getting scratched.

Does exactly what it needs to. A bit pricey though, for something that is easily lost.

I bought this to add the DK-3 rubber eyecup to my D200. It is definately overprice, but does what it is supposed to do.

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
I don't find stock Nikon eyecups to be very comfortable. I put a DK-3 eyecup on every camera and you need a finder eyepiece and adaptor to do it. It's so much more comfortable and keeps your nose away from the lcd. Well worth the extra cost.

Comments about Nikon Finder Eyepiece for FM, FE & FA Series:
This piece is one of the 3 Nikon accessories that you need to put together to add a full eyecup to Nikon D300. The end result is, the eyecup is even better than the one that Nikon sell for the D700.
It's not that straight forward to setup together. It took me may be 20 minutes to try here and there. But once you figure it out, it's well worth the cost and efforts to put them together.

Bought as a replacement - the old one fell off. Protects against dust, and prevents your glasses from getting scraped. It's pricey, but you'll need it.
