The Slik Pro 340DX is a complete all-metal tripod setup that's effective for lightweight travel duty when one desires a professional feel. The A.M.T. super titanium alloy legs make the Pro 340DX tripod rock steady yet lighter than it looks. The A. M. T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ratio than standard aluminum, meaning the legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of today's tripods. A 3-way panhead--SH-705E--with 2 pan and tilt handles for easy operation is included.

Comments about Slik Pro 340DX Tripod (Titanium) with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head (Quick Release) - Supports 8.8 lbs (4 kg):
As a novice DSLR user, I was advised to get a tripod with all the features of this model. The padded holding area is great in SW heat; the weight is a good compromise for hiking.

I use this tripod mostly for night photography. This is the perfect tripod for those who want something lightweight, easy to setup that can safely support many dSLRs (up to 8.8 lbs). It folds down to a small enough size that I can just throw it into a large bag with my other equipment. I bought it mostly for the reasons I already mentioned but also because I can use it a very low height (18"). The leg angles can be independently adjusted. My only complaint is that after a few uses I can already see a little wear on the quick release place and on the tripod where there is contact between these two. Other than that, the product does exactly what it says and the specs were on target for my needs at a great price!

This was an upgrade from my 'beginner' tripod. So far, I've used with my Nikon D-60 with 70-300mm lens and it's been much sturdier. The 3 way head is new to me, but I've enjoyed it. The adjustments are easy to use, and I appreciate the quick release.

This small and compact tripod works great for photographers traveling with heavy DSLR cameras, but want to take along a small tripod for occasional use.
With my D700 and a fairly heavy lens, it worked great for longer exposures in low light. would not use it much at full extension, but for 4 feet or lower from the ground its fantastic, and way easier to carry than a big bulky tripod,

Comments about Slik Pro 340DX Tripod (Titanium) with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head (Quick Release) - Supports 8.8 lbs (4 kg):
I had just recently purchased a Canon 60D, upgrading from a Canon S5is. I needed a tripod that would support the weight of the camera, my original tripos is 25 years +. I was also looking for something lightweight. My research led me to Slik. The Slik Pro 340DX Tripod (Titanium) with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head (Quick Release)seemed to fit my needs as to size/weight/features. I experimented with the tripod and camera and found it extremely sturdy. The 3 position legs make it agile for difficult terrain. with the 3-way pan/tilt head I can place the lens inches from the ground. I found that with the legs in the widest position not extended and by unscrewing the center post (one of the features) I can get the tripod to a very low position. The lowest position in a horizontal plane is approximately 11 inches off the ground and in the vertical position the lens is about 6 1/2 inches from the ground, due to the pan / tilt head. If there is to be a negative comment about the product one might state the weight of the tripod for traveling. I think that this is the best balance for a weight to size / quality ratio that will also adequately/safely support my camera. I am a serious amateur photographer who tries to get the best deal. This tripod is the best deal for me. B&H photo gave me the best deal.

I am very picky with my camera equipment. The handle on my last tripod broke and being super cumbersome, I was anxious to buy a new tripod.
I am traveling to 11 different cities to shoot portraits and landscapes, and this bad boy fits right into my carry on suitcase! It is not super lightweight, but also not too heavy. It is a reasonable weight given the product's durability. I find this tripod super secure, strong, durable, and offers the perfect range in height, low to high.
It is VERY stable given my favorite piece of equipment happens to be my super simple 17-55mm lens and Nikon D80.
LOVE IT! Thrilled to have made this purchase - hate guessing with online purchases, but this met and exceeded my expectations!

Comments about Slik Pro 340DX Tripod (Titanium) with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head (Quick Release) - Supports 8.8 lbs (4 kg):
I had been avoiding getting a decent tripod for years. I debated about going with the 5-6 pounders which support 11 lbs, or the more compact 3.5-pounders which hold 8 lbs.
I'm really happy with my decision to get the Slik 340. It is light and compact, yet sturdy enough for my digital SLR rig and Medium format TLR. It folds up small enough to carry in a backpack, which is important for me because a lot of my photography is done via bicycle. It is light enough that I would not hesitate take it with me just about anywhere.
I use it mainly for architecture, nature, and night photos. It is a great little tripod, and will probably suit me for a very long time.
The only con is that it's kind of hard for me to get at the center column tensioner.

I bought this tripod a couple years ago primarily for digital work. However, hiking around my Manfrotto 3236 for the RB67 got me thinking. I was quite amazed to find that in most instances it provided adequate support and vibration free stability for my MF use as well. A great little tripod--and takes to travel and hard work easily.
Grab a couple extra quick release plates--as these make switching about cameras a breeze!

I ordered this tripod expecting a slight step up from my flimsy old one my dad had given me as a hand me down since I'm just beginning to get into photography as a career, but when this came, I was honestly impressed. It's sturdy and extremely durable, you can tell just by holding it this isn't going to fall apart if it gets banged around a bit. The legs are thick and don't wobble at all. The only thing I would suggest is buying a pistol grip head instead and swapping it out with the pan handle, but that's obviously not something everyone would agree upon. I would definately buy this tripod again and reccomend it to any photo enthusiast.

This is a very nice tripod for the money. I have a Canon 50D with a reasonably large lens and have had no stability issues, even on uneven ground. It's been in the mud, dirt, and water while taking shots in the woods. It cleans up nice, I have no complaints.

This is an awesome tripod and very affordable, with the head included! I looked at Manfrotto because I know that a photographer friend considers them to be the best, but this one was much cheaper and does what I need it to do. Why pay an extra $100 for the Manfrotto?

I was impressed at how nicely made this product is. It is easy to set up and adjust. The weight of my D300s with the 18-200mm lens does not seem to be a problem. The camera is secure and easy to move for the best shot. It seems to me that the tripod is very light for the weight it will support. I like the way the legs can be moved inward so the foot print is reduced. The camera is easy to remove and mount with the quick release plate. I would not hesitate to buy another Slik product.

I needed a tripod that was sturdy for a Nikon D90, that had the three way pan/tilt and was within my price range. This was it. For the price you're getting a pretty good piece of equipment if your a photographer starting out. Too much for a point and shoot, to small for a bulkier camera but just right for a smaller DSLR. This Tripod folds up small and is very light. Mine came with a free tripod case too unfortunately the only way to fit it in is to constantly remove one of the handles and screw it in the the other. Also, there is NO level or any kind of marking on the head to see if your pan or tilt level or to get a more accurate degree of what slant you're doing.

But the heavier gear, like my D700 with all the gear I have on it, it's a little flimsy.

I ordered this tripod for my Nikon D80, which was a bit too heavy (with lens) for my lighter aluminum tripod. It works great, and is very steady; however, it's a little tight with the legs. I'm sure this will change with more use. I find it a great value, and look forward to using it for years to come. It's also not as heavy as I thought it would be. Although it's still something to pack around, it's not too inconvenient.
