Comments about Slik "The Pro Pod" 4-Section Monopod:
I bought my first pro pod well over ten years(maybe over fifteen!!) ago. I used it at racetracks coast to coast in all kinds of weather. After all those years of constant panning I finally wore through the rubber foot and drew some dirt into the tubes. The dirt scratched the tube surfaces and made the pod tough to open and close(besides that, it still does its job). All those years of hard work and absolutely no maintenance!! Just a tiny bit of attention from me and my first pro pod would have lasted forever! I didn't have to see if there might be a better monopod out there to buy because THERE ISN'T!!

I gave this Mono Pod to my very tall son-in-law as a Christmas present. It was the only one I could find for someone 6'5". I know he was pleased with it on Christmas Day and I haven't heard anything since.

This Monopod is very solidly built and easy to extend. I feel very secure with my equipment mounted on it and carrying it around a shoot. Used most for sports and wildlife. The diameter of the shaft provides a solid base for my valuable equipment.

Comments about Slik "The Pro Pod" 4-Section Monopod:
I needed a monopod for the times a tripod won't do!..
And, I figured the "FATTER" the monopod the STURDIER, the better!.
Meaning: The heavy weight of this monopod would tend not to sway..
And, NO, I'm not going "Backpacking" where I'd have to lug this monster on my back!. I don't do backpacking!..
So, I'm happy as a "pig n' mud" with this FAT BABY!...and "More is Less!"...

Comments about Slik "The Pro Pod" 4-Section Monopod:
I upgraded to the pro pod for something super sturdy and got just what I was after. I added a Slik SBH-280 ball head and now it's even more versatile then ever. Super strong and adjustable. Works like a charm with any lens but really shines with a 70-200 f2.8 or prime tele attached.

Comments about Slik "The Pro Pod" 4-Section Monopod:
Gave this mono-pod 4 stars only for one reason not carbon fiber . Other than that it is very sturdy and will hold a large zoom lens such as the 90-250 mm Zuiko no problem. I use it with a quick release ball head to photograph birds . The height adjustment collar clamps work well in adjusting the height sitting or standing. I would also say it could be used as a hiking pole if you see fit.

As a photojournalist I have used this monopod for sports, supporting up easely my 300mm and 500mm lenses. Comes on handy in indoor photography where you have to work with dim light conditions or low shutter speed.
