Pricey, but it fits

Those of you with non-Nikkor lenses that work with Nikon bodies may find that the rear lens caps from the manufacturer (e.g., Sigma) do not work well with Nikkor lenses themselves. That is, while the LF-1 cap here its perfectly well on both Nikkor and Sigma lenses, the rear cap included with Sigma lenses needs to be oriented in one particular way to fit onto the back of the Nikkor lens, making it less convenient in the field if lenses are changed often.
Thus, I finally caved and bought a couple of the LF-1s despite their ridiculous expense just for the convenience of not having to concern myself with what cap "belongs" to what lens.
I also took 2 LF-1 caps and crazy-glued them back-to-back so I can stack two short lenses (the 10.5MM fisheye and the Lensbaby, in my case) in my camera bag. This is a trick I learned at a Nikon School back in the 70's; I can't take credit for it but i can say it works nicely.
I would have given it 5 stars but for the price, which certainly seems a bit steep. But then again, with no viable alternatives I guess they can do that.

I normally look around for 3rd party alternatives for things like this to save some money, but honestly I haven't found one that works as well as the Nikon version. It fits tightly, is made well and protects the back element and connections as designed. I don't know what more you could possibly be looking for in a rear lens cap, so for me this is the one to get.
