The Sunpak 7001DX has been designed to function and match today's smaller and more stylish digital, 35mm or compact video cameras. It is simple to use, but also has some features usually only found in much expensiver models, e.g. double bubble levels, screw at bottom of center column, etc.

Comments about Sunpak 7001DX Tripod:
I purchased the 7001DX Sunpak Tripod, with a specific purpose in mind. I needed something inexpensive to use for photos of acid mine drainage. This tripod is much more than I expected for the price and meets my needs for its intended purpose.
Comments about Sunpak 7001DX Tripod:
I really like the adjustable height of this tripod. The plates are easy in and easy out for quick transitions.

Comments about Sunpak 7001DX Tripod:
Sunpak claims this tripod has a "fluid effect" pan head. Perhaps mine was an exception, but the pan jerked and resisted on the X axis -- left-right, although it performed ok on the Y axis --up and down. Over all, the panning simply doesn't feel right. Its best plus is a right-side handle -- probably the cheapest right handle currently available. Cranking is satisfactory. But if you cannot pan with a tripod smoothly, nearly everything else is irrelevant.
I bought this tripod to do fast, light location work with a camcorder. It was relatively inexpensive and seemed appropriate for quick action. Had Sunpak lived up to its promise of fluidity, it would have been an ideal choice. Guess cheap really is expensive in the long run. Jerky pans ruined a valuable night's work shooting a busy restaurant.

Comments about Sunpak 7001DX Tripod:
Use it with Panasonic PV-GS500's...too light in a wind...weight hook breaks if put heavy weight to keep steady...
Tilt is pretty smooth for friction head....pan leaves a lot to be desired...
We'll see how it stands up to a year of student use!
