The JBL Duet Computer Speaker system provides smooth and accurate sound for any portable music player or computer. The Duet uses patent pending Tangential Strain Relief (TSR) technology. With TSR you get extra bass and lower distortion. The neodymium magnet creates more power and sensitivity. The Duet system also uses a proprietary port design which enhances the bass performance. The Harman Multimedia Phoenix SE transducer is another technology critical to the Duet. This unique full range transducer was designed specifically for small speaker enclosures while providing significant low bass. The result is a small and elegant satellite speaker that provides superior low bass, midrange and highs.

More than enough output power for what I need. The volume control is also a power switch, a feature which I like. I have only one minor criticism: The shape of the volume control knob makes it hard for me to grasp. I need 2 hands to turn the speakers on or adjust the volume (one hand to hold the speaker and one hand for the volume/power switch); a minor, but very irritating issue.

These speakers sound great. I had a pair I used for almost six years and one finally blew. Just bought a new pair from here and the finish is flat, and not glossy like the old pair. The mesh covering seems cheaper too. Still sound good.

I have been doing a great deal of video and audio editing the past few years. I needed to have a pair of good computer speakers instead of using headphones all the time. The JBL Duet Computer Speakers fit the 'not too expensive with good sound' category.
The overall sound quality is excellent for inexpensive speakers. They have a good bass quality and a wide volume range before distortion occurs.
