Nikon 8mm AI Extension Tube PK-11A
The Nikon PK-11A Auto Extension Tube provides 8mm of extension, and can be used with any Nikon SLR lenses longer than 50mm, or with a reversed 50mm lens (using a reverse adapter).
Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.
The extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By moving the lens father away from the film or CCD sensor in the camera, the lens is forced to focus much closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus.
Provides perfect coupling and retains both AI aperture and meter coupling. Does not support AF operation.

None of the PK series extension tubes are "auto" much of anything. Not auto-focus, and only really usable with D series lenses (with an aperture ring on the lens barrel.

I did my research before I purchased this product and nowhere did I see it would not work with the new Nikon digital cameras. So I purchased all three of the Nikon extension tubes only to find they would not function with my cameras. I have a Nikon D90 and D7000 camera. I went to the Nikon website and inquired if Nikon was planning to make new tubes that would work with my cameras and they responded "we cannot comment on products that are not already on the website."

The product does what Nikon says it does. It provides 8 mm of lens extension. Used with AF, AF-S or AF-I lens is questioned since you lose all auto focus ability. But the use for this is to gain greater magnification, where auto focus is questionable at best. The contruction is at a very high level and is the reason that Nikon gear is selected over third party.
