The Tiffen 95mm Coarse Thread Hyper Star Filter is a cross screen filter providing a more natural, less synthetic appearance than a conventional star effect filter. This filter produces approximately 14 reflected light points, stemming from specular highlights, in different shapes and lengths. This effect is caused by thinly etched lines on the surface of the filter. Star effect filters are most effective when not used in combination with other filters.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Hyper star filter produces a more natural-appearing star effect, when compared to standard cross screen filters, with a less synthetic, asymmetrical pattern.
This filter produces approximately 14 reflected light points that vary in shape and length.
Reflected points of light change direction if filter is rotated.
Star effect is caused by thinly etched lines on the filter surface and does not affect exposure or coloration of the image.
