Foma Fomaspeed Variant III VC RC Paper is a neutral-tone, medium-weight, variable contrast black & white paper on a pure white, resin coated base.
Fomaspeed is made using silver chlorobromide emulsion that gives a silver image tone shading from neutral to mildly warm. The paper features a very rich halftone scale from a shining white to a saturated black.
| Process Type | Fomaspeed can be processed with usual developers by hand in trays or in developing machines that are suitable for the papers on fiber base. The resulting image tone can be influenced using various types of developers. For a neutral image tone the Fomatol LQN or Fomatol P developers are recommended. Other developers are also recommended such as Polymax (Kodak), Variospeed (Tetenal), PQ Universal (Ilford) or Dektol (Kodak). |
| Base Type | Resin coated base |
| Tone | Neutral-tone, on a pure white base |
| Weight | Medium weight |
| Contrast | Variable contrast, multi-grade (0-5). |
| Surface Finish | Glossy surface |
| Safelight Compatibility | Fomaspeed Variant III is a material with orthochromatic sensitizing and therefore suitable safelights shall be used. Dark red filter for orthochromatic materials (such as Kodak 1, Ilford 906) and a 15 W bulb are quite suitable. The paper should be exposed to the safelight only for a necessary short time. |

Comments about Fomaspeed Variant III VC RC Paper 8x10/100 Sheets:
I needed a box of 100 sheets of B & W RC photo paper for a lab class I was conducting for some Girl Scouts. With less than a week until the class, I went on line and could find none of the B & W papers I had been familiar, and/or satisfied with for 40 years. Finally, I purchased an unknown (to me) brand. The day of the class, I found this paper to be of the highest quality in every respect. I had no problems at all, and the paper produced exceptionally high quality prints. Now that I have found FOMASPEED brand, I can remain in film darkroom work for a while longer.
