I'm a recent convert to digital capture, coming from decades of slide film photography, and with a host of wide-angle lenses.

This lens was purchased to replace both my 15mm Sigma fisheye lens, and my 17mm rectilinear Tamron lens, both of which I've loved for years.

These lenses are now insufficiently wide, when used with my Nikon DSLR, hence the new Sigma zoom wide-angle.

This Signma zoom does not have the (intentional) distortion of the fisheye (which I will miss, on occasion), but returns me to the wonderful wide-angle world of both the 15mm and 17mm lenses.

I find the lens sharp, easy to use, and with minimal distortion. I'm a camera-support advocate, so the slow lens is not a hindrance for me ... and it's wide enough that I can easily handhold my shots, if need be. The autofocus works well, while the manual focus and zoom controls have a nice tactile feel to them.

I'll leave the technical evaluations to the experts, as they have already been published, and I read them myself before buying this lens. I will say that, if your "standard lens" for 35mm was a 24mm focal length as mine was, this lens is for you!

Bought it cause I wanted to get more of NYCs skyscrapers into my pics and I'm really happy with the results. You can e.g. get a cycler and the entire Empire State Building behind it on a pic easily. Lot of fun playing around with fun things close up and still getting a lot of interesting 'scenery' in the back.

Used for outdoor shots in the mountains of Northern Ca. Not to heavy,fits nicely in the "Clik" backback. very smooth zoom. Can't say anything bad about it. I've had very good luck with the new Sigma Lens for my Nikons.

Absolutely a wonderful lens. I've had it for a few weeks now and it performs perfectly. A must have.

PS- I have a Nikon D3000, most lenses don't work because there is no internal auto focus in the body. That makes this perfect.

Love this lens. I mainly use it for small rooms. I had great experience shooting landscapes though. It keeps lines more then fairly straight.
I've heard bad reviews about the auto focus not being quick enough. I had no problems with this issue. A++

I reviewed just about every lens in this Ultra wide angle lens class. The Sigma 10-20 was the best compromise between price and quality.

The Sigma 10-20 I have found to be just what I needed. Shooting the majority of my pics underwater the wide angle lens captures subjects as well as scenery in a manner which have met or surpassed my expectations. The price of the lens didn't break the bank either. The only draw back i can see is that it seems fragile. It has a bit more plastic than say a Tonika lens. For a weekend warrior like myself this lens was the perfect fit.

The lens is built pretty well, feels solid. I was mostly uncomfortable with the distortion and softness in the corners. If ANYTHING is in the corner or around the edges of the frame, it becomes very skewed and distorted. Not good for landscapes unless you like extremely fat skewed things on the edge of your image. The center was sharp but not the edges. A friend of mine has the tokina 12-24 which controls distortion wayyy better IMO. In the end I returned the lens and bought the Nikon 16-85 which is an amazing lens. Build quality is 10 times better. I will eventually pair that with the tokina 11-16 f/2.8

After a lot of research online, the Tokina 11-16mm was my first choice and this lens was my second choice but the Tokina was out of stock and I was about to depart on my adventure so I settled for my second choice.
After using this lens, I am completely satisfied and would gladly make it my first choice now. Well built, sharp, low distortion and CA's but the thing that really surprised me was the outstanding color saturation. The lens is a bit heavy but it balances well on my Nikon D300.
I first used this lens at Meteor Crater in AZ and even at 10mm it was difficult to get the whole crater (Tokina is only 11mm) but the resulting images were excellent. At the end of the crater rim guided walk, the guide will take your picture on Picture Rock overhanging the rim of the crater with your camera. The guide has done this thousands of times with many rigs but when I handed him my camera with this lens mounted on it at 10mm, he repeated several times "I really like this lens" further confirming my feeling that I made the right choice.
So as fate would have it, I ended up totally satisfied with my second choice (now my first!) that provides a wider angle of view, a greater zoom range and saved money in the process.

I am a *beginner* amateur photographer, and I became increasingly frustrated by my attempts at landscape photography, with a standard lens. This lens has removed my frustrations! It also appears to be constructed solidly, and I truly expect it to last for years.

Currently using this lens between a D-90 and a D-200 and the results are sharp. The 10-20 mm more than makes up for the Nikon's 1.5 form factor.

Very nice angle of view.

Distortion was acceptable for such a wide lens, not much at 20mm.
Fast focusing, Problems with front focusing however.
very soft corners at 10mm, not so pronounced at 20mm.
The problem with this lens was the front focusing, and a soft left side at all focal ranges. I returned it and got the Tokina 124 DX II. The Tokina is a much better lens all around.

Reproduces color so well. i enjoy the the range of the lens for scenic and architecture. This is a must have lens for anyone.

This lens gives an amazing field of view, and it makes the place look big and far. For indoor shooting its not the best lens, i would get the f/3.5 version, but outdoor i could shoot at f/11 handheld. Great definition and minimum distortion(but not recommended for architecture, with straight lines)
