I bought a Canon 40D in June 08. Even though the Canon battery lasts amazingly long considering I'm using it with a Tamron Super Zoom lens, I wanted a spare battery. But, didn't want to spend [$]for "just a battery". I decided to give it a chance even though some of the older reviews were not favorable. With the one I received, the packaging indicated that it is rated at 1700 mAh. It seems to last just as long as the Canon and "seemed" to charge even faster than the 90 minutes that the Canon battery requires. Great battery, if I decide to buy a third, it will be this one.

I bought this battery as a backup for my 40D after reading positive reviews from other customers. I used my canon battery first and it lasted me a long time, but as it was getting low, I charged this one up to have it ready. When the canon battery finally died, I threw this one in and flipped the switch to "ON"... and nothing. The battery doesn't work AT ALL. Luckily it hasn't blown up in my camera like the other review on here, but after reading that, there's no way I'm putting it back in my camera. I wish I'd seen that review before purchasing. I'm past my time period for a cash refund, so I'm stuck with it or a replacement of the same battery, which I don't really want at this point. DON'T BUY THIS BATTERY.

The battery seems to work ok. It powers the camera and seems to last as long as the original battery. I don't like that it is loose in the charger. It is so loose in the charger that you have to plug the charger in a certain way or the battery will fall out of the charger. It seems a little loose in the camera, however it seems to work ok. It is my third battery or I would not like it.

I'm using these as replacements for my Rebel. They work just as well as the much higher priced ones from Canon, in fact they charge faster then the one that came with the camera. The only drawback, they did not come with a protective back, but, since the original is not holding a charge now, I'm using the back that came with it.

I recently shot 2,000 pictures over the course of a week using this battery (with the OEM as a spare) in a 50D in RAW mode with an IS lens. Almost every shot was outdoors in below-freezing temperatures, and I used the LCD frequently to check on focus. Needless to say, these aren't ideal conditions for maximizing battery life. Despite that, I'd typically be able to take 300 photos before needing to swap batteries. I'm definitely satisfied!

This battery is a good replacement/addition to the original equipment battery. I've been taking a lot of live view macro shots so the battery gets a good workout. It seems to perform the same as the Canon battery and is a necessity when out in the field using live view at all.

These batteries are great and last MUCH longer than the original Canon BP-511, thousands of RAW shots before the charge begins to drop. The actual batteries received are 1700mAh and give a more rapid response when reviewing the photos on the camera. Recharge time is just as fast as the Canon. It would be good if they came with the plastic covers to protect the contact strips but I keep the batteries seperate in CF card pouches anyhow and use the covers from my no longer any good Canon batteries.

It's always great to have a spare battery. Nothing is worse than running out of power just before the end of a shoot.
Took the camera on vacation for a week and never ran out of a charge. It's an absolute must for any photographer. Highly recommended.
