Purchased two other universal remotes that were more money. Sent both of them back as they were nightmares to program and did not meet expectations. Received the H880. I was skeptical based on the bad experiences I had with the two other remotes. My wife said it was cute so that alone was cause for much encouragement. All kidding aside; this will be the most user-friendly remote that you will use to control your equipment. And yes, it is cute. We now have a universal remote that is actually by itself as we put all of the original remotes in moth balls. I hope it doesn't feel lonely and out of spite stops working. If you follow the steps I have taken everything will work as expected. Be forewarned that it will be a long process and will require alot of patience. So here we go:
- before doing anything else, go to harmony/Logitech's website and download the latest and greatest software and firmware.
- Follow all instructions to the letter. If you have difficulties, definitely consult the help menu.
- Here's the time consuming part. Take each individual remote and define every key to match a key on the H880 remote. There are keys on the h880 remote that exactly match or come very close to matching the keys on your original remote.
It works great. I don't know where the bad reviews are coming from. At this point I would not trade this remote for anything else until Harmony/Logitech comes up with something better. Stay tuned. Purchase the H880 TODAY.

There are a lot of nice, even fantastic things about the remote, none of which have been spared by Logitech in putting together the description :), so I will not repeat them. Basically, consider that it works exactly as advertised, which is great. What is not so great is its interface, more specifically - the way it needs to be set up for use. I have been using the Harmony 880 for about a year. For me the biggest disadvantage is the fact that you cannot do ANYTHING, and that includes the simplest adjustments or setting, without logging on to your Logitech account. With the latest firmware upgrade you have only been given the option of setting up the device's system time manually. Big deal!
Probably Logitech does not want end-users to have the programming sequences for thousand of infra-red devices in their computer for various reasons. I can understand that. Unfortunately, it has resulted in an interface, which makes programming much clumsier than you would expect from a nice gadget like this. To set the record straight, I need to say that I recommended this item and actually just recently bought one for my brother. I consider my self an advanced user of electronics, but it still took me TWO hours to set up his system (a TV, a DVD player and a satellite receiver, all of which manufactured less than 3 years ago). So, if you are ready to dedicate this kind of time on initial setup, go ahead and buy it. Afterwards it works just fine and I do not regret my choice a bit.
Or so I thought until recently - the volume-up button on my remote has stopped responding, which should not be happening to a relatively exepnsive remote after only one year of use. I cannot know if this is a result of misuse by my family, or other users have experienced the same problem. But I cannot help but compare this advanced remote to a 10 year old SONY TV remote control that I have, which still has full functionality and not a sign of wear of the contact surface under the button, even after such a long time...

Comments about Harmony/Logitech H880 Home Theater Remote Control:
My parents had so many remotes that not only did they have to label them; they had no idea how to work them half the time. This one remote now runs all of their audio and visual equipment. With one touch the remote automatically turns on T.V., DVD player, surround sound, and even changes the T.V. to the proper input and aspect. It only took them about 20 minutes to program and that's pretty fast when you consider just how little computer knowledge they possess. This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone.[...]

Works sometimes. Even with default timing settings, some devices don't always go on or off -- the HELP button needs to be used 5 out of 10 times, and then it takes 10 -15 button clicks to get things turned on or off.
Needs weekly updates on their website. Note: you are buying a service -- not a product.

We had five remotes on the coffee table last night and today we have one. This was a gift for my husband and the entire time we were setting up the remote he kept saying it wouldn't be able to control everything. HA! It works beautifully. The only drawback is getting all of the model numbers off of the devices. Once we finished that it was smooth sailing. I highly recommend this remote.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech H880 Home Theater Remote Control:
I bought this for my dad for Christmas. He was talking about getting some new home theater stuff and I figured why not get him ONE remote that he can program. I was the one to program it for him.
I can say one thing bad about this, it took me forever to set this up. Basic setup was easy and didn't take more than 30 minutes, but going through making sure all the features work and doing one button activities takes forever. You will more than likely go through and change the setup multiple times to get it how you like it. I was almost done it wouldn't let me update the remote anymore. I had to recharge it and start over. For some reason when doing a watch TV activity it changes the channel to 3-1 on my dad's LG TV. It was a pain.
Otherwise this is an awesome product. If I had more time and my own home theater I would work out the bugs. Like many people I've bought universal remotes and it doesn't do everything, so you still need to keep the original around. The H880 does it all. Every button or feature you have it can do. It even did my dad's old A/V Reciever. If my wife would let me I would buy one for myself.

This thing controls our entire home entertainment system with ease. The best part is I am the only male in a 4 person household. My entire family adapts to Harmony remotes with a minimum of training. The Wife an watch a DVD, my daughter can then listen to a CD, my other daughter can then watch her favorite TV channel. No negatives to report at all. We recycled our Harmony 520 to the Master Bedroom to replace our 3 remotes there.

If you are like me and have a TV with multiple inputs with sources and would like to press one button to have everything (and I mean everything) setup just the way that you want it, this remote is for you.
Using the Web Interface that comes with the Harmony setting up each of my devices was a breeze. With a push of an activity button on the remote, my DVR turns on, my TV is set to the correct input and my surround system turns on to the correct input. Press another and the XBox turns on, the DVR turns off and the inputs on the TV and Surround are adjusted accordingly.
Best part, every button is configurable. Comes with it's own charger and doc station so there's no more need to worry about replacing the batteries in your remote.

The only thing that I wish the Harmony Web site would do is to show a detailed listing of all the commands for an activity, including the ones that they inserted such as power on or power off, with a link to help if you want to change or delete their inserted commands. Other than that it's a great remote. It's so intuitive that my wife can even use it.

I use this product to control my Tatung Plasma TV, Yamaha HT Receiver, Scientific Atlantic HD DVR Cable box, Media Center PC and Xbox 360. It replaced my well worn Harmony H659 remote. I was completely satisfied with my H659, but it was real tired after 4 years of constant use. The 808 is a welcomed update. It handles more activities, more granular programming options, has a better display and is rechargeable. The programming was a snap, though I found it better to reprogram it rather than just change the remote. My only grip is the recharging base. The remote doesn’t always charge when laid into it, you need to verify that it is in the base properly. The battery life isn’t great as well. Besides those issues, I am extremely satisfied. I would recommend this remote to anyone who has a few devices needed to be controlled in many activities.

The setup was easy and it recognized all of my devices. I went from 6 remotes down to just this one. You can customize all the buttons, learn new buttons from your old remotes, and create new activities and add other sequenced events. I can point the remote anywhere and it will hit all of my devices.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech H880 Home Theater Remote Control:
I had a Universal Remote and the backlight died so I was looking for a new one. I thought this one would make it easier for my wife to actually figure out how to turn things on and off, and it has worked perfectly. I have a fairly complex system: DVD, Cable DVR, Tivo, Wii, Xbox, and X10 light controller. All handled beautifully and easily by the remote (it cannot turn the Wii on and off: no RF, but not a big deal). Changing the buttons to suit is easy, and I have fiddled a lot getting everything the way I like it. I am very happy with the remote, and have had no problems at all. Before my wife would not touch our setup, now she can easily access any of our devices and is quite pleased.

This is a good product, as other reviewers have mentioned. I liked the fact that you can customize the buttons. Take the time to learn how to do that, and you'll be happy.
I would've given the H880 five stars, but because of the buttons, I gave it four. The reason is that the buttons are not very defined when it comes to operating the remote by feel, instead of by sight. I like to be able to navigate my way around a remote by feel, without having to look at it. Aside from that, I like this thing. I'm glad I bought it. And if you are hesitant about getting one, and are worried that it might be like other universal remote units that don’t really work, don’t be and go ahead and get one. You will not regret it.

I personally think the "Harmony" series is Logitech's most innovative product line. I bought a Logitech 768 almost 4 years back for around [$]. I have been using it since for my home theater setup which is typical, HD TV, Receiver, Satellite, DVD Player, XBOX 360 Game console, Occasional Laptop hookup for streaming online contents. As you can imagine lots of remotes. Loved it. Even my 60+ year old parents find it easy to use when they visit me. The new 880 has much better button configuration. Unlike the 768 most of the necessary commands are readily available without the need to search thru "All commands". Upgrade was cake walk, I just connected the new remote to my account and everything was transferred in literally 5 minutes. Although doesn't have radio frequency remote control feature, which is useful if you want to control your devices from without a line of sight, think its available in an another model. Anyways, Love it and highly recommend it, if you have 3 or more remotes to switch between. It is little pricy, so wait for deals, you can get downwards of[$] with MIR.

This remote is awesome! I can control all my electronics devices with this one remote and programming was very easy. The LCD is nice and not too cluttered. I think the number button placement could have been better but that's a minor complaint.

This remote is the last one you will by. I have been amazed at the features and options for the remote. the software has easy to install features for almost every TV/stereo/DVD/VCR or system you can imagine. Plus, if you don't find it, you can program it yourself. Very easy. Cons, sometimes the remote get's out-of-cycle (ie. turns the TV off when it should turn it on) but the easy help button solves that problem in seconds. A great buy don't hesitate!

This device works well once you get it configured to your home entertainment system. This took a couple of tries using the Logitech software. However, it wasn't a big deal - just some minor tweaking. I think this will finally get me out of the "dog-house" with my techno-phobic wife. The nice thing is that I can easily operate my Dish DVR and quickly get a DVD ready to go. Very nice. I can't see why you'd need anything more expensive? I'd definitely buy it again.

Purchased this to remove the clutter from my room of all the remotes that were everywhere and nowhere when you needed one.
The simplicity of setting up this remote and programming it for each piece of equipment connected to my entertainment center was so easy it was as simple as writing down the make and model of the unit, adding it to the system and pressing the enter button.
If my kids were around when I purchased this, they would have done it!
Extremely easy to use. point and click.
The recharging station eliminates the need for a constant supply of batteries
The color screen and icons simplyfy the use of the remote.
Cons: I am sure there are some, and when I find them I will get back to you.
