The AJA ADA4 is a Digital to Analog Audio Converter that operates bidirectionally. This device accepts an AES/EBU digital audio input and outputs an analog audio signal, and vice versa. It features a miniature size and output level controls.
- Adjustable Level
- Each channel has three levels of attenuation for control.
- Miniature Size
- The size of this device allows for studio "in line" applications or small desktop spaces.
- Video Sync
- This converter offers the ability to sync to a video reference word clock signal also providing two looping outputs.

I was downsizing the audio portion of my editing bay and enhancing the video. I got rid of a Motu interface and decided to try and keep my interfacing with my already existing Kona 3 setup. We still do some VO recording, and even occasional music. I saw that the ADA4 was the easiest/cheapest way in for AJA AD converting and purchased one. I wasn't aware that a separate power supply was needed, so when it showed up without one I ordered that next.
I plugged it in, tested a mic and a line in, everything sounds good. I do wish the analog lines on it were bigger and shielded, though I haven't heard any noise yet.
