The Vixen Flip Mirror System has a conventional 1.25" eyepiece adapter in the vertical position, and a second straight-through attachment which lets you directly screw upon an SLR camera T-mount. Also included in the package which adapts the straight-through path to 1.25", so that you can have an eyepiece on both sides or you can shoot perform eyepiece projection adapter with the #3931 SX Camera Adapter.
The flip mirror allows speedy switching between viewing from the vertical position or allowing the light to pass straight through the flip mirror to your SLR camera (with or without an eyepiece in the path) attached to the rear. When using the flip mirror for photography, users commonly insert illuminated reticle eyepieces in the vertical position so they can periodically flip the mirror to check that the image isn't drifting during the exposure, and correct for such drift if necessary.
- 2" Focuser barrel accepts 49mm filters (use a 49mm to 48mm step-down ring to employ conventional astronomical 48mm filters)
- Each output of flip mirror has 42mm T-mount threading for prime focus photography with SLR cameras (camera-specific T-mount adapter is required)
- Add optional #3931 SX Camera Adapter to straight through path for eyepiece projection photography with SLR cameras (camera-specific T-mount adapter is required)

I liked the Vixen Flip Mirror { well built }
until I tried to tread my 2" 48mm filters onto it.
48mm treading is the standard. This is a serious mistake. I bought an adaptor but the 49mm OD is to big for my Celestron 6r. housing. I contacted
Vixen for a solution but no reply. I have not found an adaptor yet. This has been a real head ack. This should have been caught by the QC before they did a production run. De Lorme
