I've found this light shed to be exactly what I needed for my occasional tabletop shooting needs. Construction is of reasonably good quality and the light transmission and diffusion is excellent. The included cloth backdrops (once you iron the creases out of them) are very effective for getting solid black and white backgrounds while maintaining good exposure on the subject-- just white balance the camera and go. I was able to get solid whites with only two relatively small lights. The plexi bottom sheets included for shooting on a light table actually work nicely to get a little reflection going if you put a sheet of white paper under them. The openings provide reasonably good access to the interior, I managed to shoot martinis in here without spilling. The whole thing collapses easily for storage in the included carry bag. While there is zero documentation included, you'd honestly have to be pretty clueless to need it-- you just pop it open, attach the velcro hooks on the drops to the velcro loops in the shed interior, and shoot.
My one gripe with this product is that the bottom is suspended above the surface you place it on top of by the sides, meaning that it droops in at the center, and even with the plexi plates in there nothing sits flat. You can overcome this easily by putting a book or other 1" thick object under your shed so that bottom beneath your subject rests on that, but it is still an annoyance. The fabric is fairly thin and suspended at a high tension, so I can't imagine the longevity of this product will be that great, but given the very reasonable price I don't see this as a deal-breaker. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to do tabletop shooting without the benefit of a dedicated studio environment.

I've used this shed for about three months now, and I've gotten fabulous results each time. But the material is absurdly thin, and the stitching very poor. After perhaps a dozen setup-takedown cycles, the fabric is tearing at the seams in several places. Now, this was also quite inexpensive for what it is, so even if it fails after another three or four shoots I won't weep over it by any means. But having gear that does not hold up is a frustration to me, and I'd have gladly paid a bit more for a better-built iteration of the same basic design. When it comes time to replace this I will look elsewhere.

I am using this digital light shed to photograph my products for my website. I was referred to this product by a graphic designer who is teaching me to use this so that I can get professional results sooner than later. The fact that he would use this himself sold me immediately! The light shed is easy to use and the components set up and break down quickly making travel with it a snap. The light shed makes it possible for me to get professional results on my limited budget as an emerging company. I won't forget the companies who helped me along the way when I make it to the top!

Comments about Impact Digital Light Shed - Medium:
Good value and fine for very small objects. It is hard to work with the inserts, difficult to get smooth backgrounds. Easy to access the shed for product setups but not particularly stable when shooting vertically.

Comments about Impact Digital Light Shed - Medium:
I sell vintage costume jewelry online, so good pictures are essential, and reflections and light scatter are perennial problems - which a good light shed has practically eliminated. Plus it's so easy to set up and take down!

I purchased the light shed to do some basic product photography for web use (mostly small packaging). It's proven very handy when in use and packs up nice and small when the shoot is over. It has saved me a lot of set-up time.
I use Tota lights with it and worried that they might be too hot for the material, but is hasn't been a problem so far. I typically don't have them on for more than 10 minutes and at least 10 inches away.
The top and side openings, translucent bases and fabric sweeps with velcro attachments make the light shed quite versatile. I put a 6" riser inside and was able to wrap the backdrop material around it and attach it to the velcro without a problem. The translucent bases give a nice, soft reflection. The fact that it's a tent makes it easy to add reflectors inside.
The only cons are that it doesn't sit completely flat on its base and it's a little tricky to fold up, but once you figure it out, it's a snap.

My wife is using the tent to shoot pastries she bakes. It's a good for pans up to 8". The light is bright and daylight balanced. The only thing that annoys her is the black and the white sheets are not long enough to cover the back and the bottom.

I have only tried to use this product a couple of times, but I was a bit disappointed from the start. It is not well built, seems cheaply contructed. The tent diffuses light nicely but accessories are junk and I can't figure out how the fabric backgrounds are supposed to fit. NO INSTRUCTIONS AT ALL!

Shed is used to photograph custom jewelry for catalog and web listings. It is reasonably priced with kit. Not rocket science -nonetheless it does not come with any written material or instructions that would help you know how to install the nonreflective backgrounds with the included velcro. Nonetheless it is a useful tool for photographing small items in an efficient manner.

This light shed was another one of those items required (for a product photography project), that was of professional quality and that would fit into a limited budget. My immediate need was for taking higher quality photos of jewelry and this need was adequately addressed with this purchase of the product.
