While it is always advised to have a zoom eyepiece for birding and other nature observing applications for its versatility beyond reproach, this 30x Waterproof and Fogproof Wide Angle Eyepiece fixed-magnification unit has its own unique advantages. It is both brighter and sharper than its zooming sibling, and offers a significantly wider apparent viewing angle than the zoom at the same magnification setting. Thus you'll feel like you're surrounded by the view, which is always a pleasant experience.
