The Kenko 1.5x DG AF TelePlus Teleconverter (also known as a tele-extender) will multiply the focal length of the existing lens by 1.5x, and will cut back the amount of light by one f/stop. For example, using a 1.5x teleconverter with a 300mm lens will effectively increase the focal length to 450mm. A lens set to f/2.8 will now be f/4.
This DG teleconverter has upgraded "Gate-Array IC" circuitry to work better with digital SLR's and some of the digital SLR lenses*. This means that the converter's unique circuitry maintains signal integrity between the camera body and lens.
Teleconverters are not recommended for lenses wider than 50mm, e.g. 28-105mm. However, full AF operation is only possible with lenses with open aperture of f/2.8 or brighter. Please be aware that AF will work properly only if there is enough light and contrast on the subject to activate the camera's AF sensors. Manual focusing is recommended when using lenses with smaller open f-stop value than those given above.
Note: Not compatible with the Canon Digital-only EF-S lenses, e.g. 18-55 f/3.5-5.6, 17-85 f/4-5.6, 60 f/2.8 macro.

Comments about Kenko AF 1.5x DG Tele-Converter:
I use this with the Canon 70-200mm f/4 L lens and EOS 7D. For the price, it provides an inexpensive way to get that extra reach while sacrificing a wee bit on image quality. It's well-built but has slight play when attached to the lens. Autofocus works well. The challenge is keeping the camera steady as the extra zoom does amplify shakes, but this is not to be held against the tele/C. Expect to lose some exposure as a result of the extra optics. Since I use it primarily in bright sunlight, this is not an issue, especially with the 7D which tends to overexpose. Overall, it's a good addition to my set of accessories and I would recommend it from a value standpoint.

Comments about Kenko AF 1.5x DG Tele-Converter:
I keep forgetting that I have this extender in my bag. I bought it several years ago and only used it a few times with my old 75-300 IS. But when I did use it, the extra reach made it worth the small price. Image quality was fine but I'd assume it would be with most consumer grade glass. I've never used it on a L series lens but I will try it out the next time I think of it.

This teleconverter is great with macro photography. It gives better distance between camera and insects which may "spook" if the camera is too close.

Fast & Acurate Focusing with any of my L lenses: 70-200 2.8 IS, 50 1.2, 85 1.2 works great with the 16-35 2.8 as well. I needed a longer lens for my outdoor weddings and this works perfect with my 70-200 2.8 IS lens! Since it's a little softer it works perfect for wedding and portrait photography. For commercial or editorial photgoraphy it's not sharp enough.

Comments about Kenko AF 1.5x DG Tele-Converter:
This tele-converter is useful if you need a bit more reach from a telephoto lens or telephoto zoom. It may allow you to get to some images you couldn't otherwise reach but you will sacrifice some contrast and picture quality and a stop. On my Sigma 70-300 autofocus is possible at 70mm using this tele-converter, but it is manual focus only as you zoom out. If you need a bit longer telephoto lens and you're on a budget, this Kenko will get it done for you. [...]

Comments about Kenko AF 1.5x DG Tele-Converter:
I haven’t used this lens much, but did conduct a subjective backyard test on a bright sunny day using a Canon 40D and a Canon 70-300 IS USM lens. I also used a tripod and set the camera to the predefined landscape setting.
I was surprised at how good the results turned out for both functional aspects and image quality. Auto focus worked near-perfectly at all zoom settings, and the image details of even the smallest features were quite good even at the extended 450 mm zoom level. Using the loupe tool in “Aperture” I examined images down to the pixel level where the detail and focus was very good. With the tele lens attached, the camera automatically raised the ISO to 800 and set the aperture to the widest available at all tested zooms values even though the light was good.
I also tested “identical” images (same setup as above) with one image taken at 200mm without the tele, and the other taken at 135 with the 1.5 tele (~202mm). As you might expect, the image without the tele seemed to have a bit more contrast, detail, and vibrancy. But these subjective comparisons were generally much closer than I expected.
The camera handled this teleconverter configuration nicely in bright light, but I would not expect such good results with limited light. I highly recommend this product for a nice, inexpensive way to extend your camera’s reach when shooting outside on bright sunny days.

I wanted to get 2x converter, but did not to loose too much speed with film. This product did the job. Was filming the full moon, for double exsposure to use later in Utah.
The pictures of the moons details were crisp, sharp and little degradation. You can't go wrong with this Kenko converter.

Comments about Kenko AF 1.5x DG Tele-Converter:
the Tele-converter by Kenko was well made and easy to use. I used it with a Canon 28-135mm IS kit lens. The combined magnification factors turn it into a 324mm zoom lens with image stabilization. I do have to use manual focus most of the time, but for most shots that is not a problem. I got some great macro shots with it also.

Comments about Kenko AF 1.5x DG Tele-Converter:
This is a good teleconverter it fits Canon EOS SLR cameras. I have a Rebel XT. Quality is almost as good as with the Canon zoom lens. The only problems is most of the time autofocus need to be done manually, but other than that it is a good option for a more powerful telephoto when you don´t want to carry the bigger lens or you do not have the money to afford it.

for starters,I bought Cannon's 40D along with 5 other lenses, from B&H. I have tryed other dealers, thats an expensive road never to be traveled.Buy from B&H you'll never reget it.The last lens I bought was Kenko"s 1.5 tele-converter.I have used it with Tokina at-x 80-400mm and Cannon's 70-300mm is.The focus is fast and sharp the quality excellent, light weight. I use the camera and lenses to shoot mostly surfing, with or with out pod and it works great. The reviews that up beat this lens are the ones to take to heart. Also I can not say enough about the Tokina at-x 80-400 and Tokina at-x 10-17mm,they are superb lenses also.

Just bought it together with a 70-200 f2.8L IS lens. Image quality decent, although not exceptional. Don't know how it compares to the original Canon teleconverters but I'm quite happy with this, particularly considering the price.

Comments about Kenko AF 1.5x DG Tele-Converter:
Not too costly, well made, and does the job. I got it to increase the magnification of my 100 mm macro lens with out the reduced working distance extension tubes cause. The Kenko doesn't create any autofocus issues with the macro lens. Works great. I can even use it with my 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 and still have autofocus in good light. I recommend it without reservation.
