The 2x DG Teleconverter (also known as a tele-extender) will multiply the focal length of the existing lens by 2x, and will cut back the amount of light by 2 f/stops. For example, using a 2x teleconverter with a 300 mm lens will effectively increase the focal length to 600 mm. A lens set to f/2.8 will now be f/5.6.
This DG teleconverter has upgraded "Gate-Array IC" circuitry to work better with digital SLR's and some of the digital SLR lenses*. This means that the converter's unique circuitry maintains signal integrity between the camera body and lens.
Teleconverters are not recommended for lenses wider than 50mm, e.g. 28-105mm. However, full AF operation is only possible with lenses with open aperture of f/2.8 or brighter. Please be aware that AF will work properly only if there is enough light and contrast on the subject to activate the camera's AF sensors. Manual focusing is recommended when using lenses with smaller open f-stop value than those given above.
Note: Not compatible with the Canon Digital-only EF-S lenses, e.g. 18-55 f/3.5-5.6, 17-85 f/4-5.6, 60 f/2.8 macro.

Comments about Kenko 2x MC7 DG AF Teleplus Autofocus Teleconverter for Canon EOS:
I use this Tele-Converter primarily on my 28 to 300 Zoom lens mainly for shooting wildlife. The magnification is excellent and the images are sharp. The unit is well constructed, easy to mount and nicely packaged in a leather pouch.I have yet to experience any problem with it and I would highly recommend it ,especially to anyone desiring a long zoom and having a low budget.

Comments about Kenko 2x MC7 DG AF Teleplus Autofocus Teleconverter for Canon EOS:
I photograph birds, which requires repeated and rapid auto focusing. I tried the product with my Canon 30D and Canon EF 70-300 IS USM lens in situations with lots of light and high contrast in the subjects, but the auto focus would only work if I backed off on the focal length, which largely defeated the purpose of the tele-converter. The product works fine with manual focus.

Comments about Kenko 2x MC7 DG AF Teleplus Autofocus Teleconverter for Canon EOS:
I just purchased a Tamron 70-200mm zoom lens from B&H and I used the teleconverter for the first time today. I ran it thru every test I could put it through. It auto-focused very well in daylight at all ranges. I took pics of the full moon tonite and with the 2x-tele. you could count the craters. I am very impressed and satisfied with it and would recommend it to a friend

Comments about Kenko 2x MC7 DG AF Teleplus Autofocus Teleconverter for Canon EOS:
yep. Think this as a magnifier glass: if you magnify ugly thing, you will get a big ugly thing.
But, with a good lense, you'll get far more focal length and do not need to crop your images so much.
Might work for someone, I use it occasionally when I need to get something little closer. Not a big fan though.
Bottom line: I don't blame Kenko. Maybe I wouldn't be any happier with Canon extender, never tested. The bad thing is that the extenders always mean stepping down the aperture and this causes problems in exposure times.

Comments about Kenko 2x MC7 DG AF Teleplus Autofocus Teleconverter for Canon EOS:
I used the extender on a Canon 75-300mm lens to take multiple pictures of large birds in Florida and the extender worked very well. At times it did have a problem using autofocus and I switched to manual, but it did link up well with the camera(Canon EOS 30D) with no problem. The focus problem seemed to be because of the changin background. Overall, it is an excellent addtion to my equipment list.

Comments about Kenko 2x MC7 DG AF Teleplus Autofocus Teleconverter for Canon EOS:
I really like being able to double my lense without making a major investment in a bigger lense. The drawback would definitely be the auto focus. Very slow--does not alway work--but realize I just need to go do manual focus. For the cost, good investment.

Comments about Kenko 2x MC7 DG AF Teleplus Autofocus Teleconverter for Canon EOS:
I have not used this converter but only once and I was pleased with the outcome. I shot a patron at the OC Fair on a roller coaster using a 300MM lens. The shots were tack sharp. The only drawback was the ability to AF. I was not expecting the comverter to AF so no suprise here. I would recommend this 2X converter to a fellow photographer.
