The Sigma 1.4x DG EX APO Tele Converter (also known as a tele-extender) will multiply the focal length of the existing lens by 1.4x, and will cut back the amount of light by one f/stop. For example, using a 1.4x teleconverter with a 300 mm lens will effectively increase the focal length to 420mm. A lens set to f/2.8 will now be f/4.
Note: Sigma APO Tele Converter 1.4x and 2x are dedicated teleconverter lenses. Due to the high optical quality of this teleconverter, this item will only fit and work with a select list of lenses. Please click here for a compatibility chart of all compatible lenses.

I had the 1.4 non DG model and contacted Sigma and they told me I needed the DG model. I was having focusing issues but after "cocking" the camera a bit it took right back off. Not sure if it's the Nikon d90 contacts or the 1.4 converter. I'm using it with the Sigma 120-300 2.8 OS lens. I just couldn't believe the difference the DG model made!! It was like "day and night", literly. I couldnt believe the amount of light the new DG model let in, I don't believe there was any drop off at all!!! The non-DG model was so dark it was terrible. Make sure you get the DG model, it is so so sweet.
I have not taken it off the Sigma lens since putting it on. The build like the previous one seems very good, strong and substantile.
I love the extra reach this thing gives me and at f4, it is so so sweet! Have been thinking about getting the 2x but the price right now after getting all this new equipment is making me wait for now.
The image quality is excellent, I'd rate it probably 9+ out of 10. It is really money well spent especially with a 2.8 lens. Just can't go wrong. I chose B&H due to their amazing return policy that allows you to buy with total confidence. Thank you B&H for your amazing shipping and service. I had it at my door in just two days. Don't wait, get it!!!

Puchased for lenses...Sigma 150 F2.8 OS and Sigma 50-500 OS/
Very pleased with the results on the Macro 150. Very sharp and AF works well, beautiful images of hummers in flight and feather detail is great. Macro is great, but I use manual focus. Will AF but DOF is juat too thin.
Results as expected with the BIGMOS....certainly very usuable and results are ok. Soft at 700mm and it should be, however I will use it for shots where the 500 isn't long enough.

Comments about Sigma 1.4x DG EX APO Teleconverter:
The Teleconverter is small light weight and doubles the usefulness of your lens. I am using this in conjunction with a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 and Nikon D7000. Results are very good, nice sharp images at F5.6 and still very good at F4. Have tried with my Nikkor 70-300 VR but results a bit soft, all functionality of the lens in maintained with both lenses. When using a heavy lens I would not recommend picking up by camera body as this will put a lot of strain on the converter, the 120-300 Sigma weighs(3kg) and would destroy this and your camera mount anyway, Holding by lens and body will see a longer life. All in all very happy with [...] purchase, be sure to check compatibility chart before purchasing .

I have a NIKON D90.
I purchased the 1.4 X DG APO Sigma Teleconverter together with the Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO OS LENS f/NIKN.
The problem is, that as soon as I add the teleconverter to the lens, the autofocus stops working.
is this normal?

Comments about Sigma 1.4x DG EX APO Teleconverter:
Easy to use, just sits between camera body and the lens. Remove lens, attach teleconverter, re-attach lens to teleconverter, removal is the reverse.
Very easy to use, small size so easy to accommodate in a crowded photo bag, relatively inexpensive for the effect it has. Takes my 500mm lens to 800mm do so with a new lens would be much more expensive.
No appreciable change in the quality of images, maybe a bit softer at smaller apertures but not a problem for me.
Nothing really negative to report so far, it does exactly as claimed.

Love the new range, when using the TC my d90 Overexposes Up to 1 stop on Aperture mode, I usually do -EV, manual mode is ok though. I just used it recently at an airshow and love the results.I gave 4 starts just because the -EV issue, other than that I'm very happy with this TC.Autofocus works fine.

the SIGMA 1.4 teleconverter is used on the SIGMA 120-400mm telefoto lens mounted on a Nikon D200 using a Manfroto tripod and Really Righ Stuff Ballhead.
This combimation of equipment is used when photographing wildlife, primarily wetland birds.
The teleconverter has worked flawlessly. A potential user must keep in mind that a lens with less than a f/4 maximum opening will have to be manually focused. Not a good choice if you plan on handholdimg a lens this large and manually focusing.
This lens/teleconverter is a good combination for photographers on a modest budget

I have used the 1.4x teleconverter with my Sigma 70-200 mm lens, and I have no complaints. I have used it at a baseball game and a splash dog competition. I have not noticed any difference in the autofocus speed or F stop adjustment. The light is still good with the F2.8 lens. In fact, my friend tried it out; and now he is ordering one this week!

perfect for birds and wildlife, doesnt take a lot of light and gives 200 mm to my 120-400 mm only bad thing is the lack of AF while using it. Images comeout really sharp as sharp as the lens can. It saves weight while adding reach.

Comments about Sigma 1.4x DG EX APO Teleconverter:
Very handy accessory for my Sigma 150-500mm making it up to about 750mm. Wow! A little soft but very very adequate. Easy to carry. Cuts an f/stop off, as expected, but more workable than the 2 f/stops we lose with the 2X teleconverter.
But beware, I was unaware that it does not support autofocus on most lenses. So be sure to check the list of lenses supported before you buy. Thus, worthless for catching birds on the fly, and fast moving sports -- a big draw back.
I follow the company's recommendation of putting telecoverter on the lens first, then the two onto the camera. Don't know why they say that, but I am afraid to test it.

Used it to replace the stock 70-300 on a 70-200. It transform an f/2.8 into a f/4. The pictures gets a little more softer at the edge but no big deal.
Definitely a must have
