I purchased this product as part of a 3 monolight package (2 VSD400's and 1 EX100A) that also included 3 stands (one a boom stand), 2 umbrellas, a soft box and a radio controlled trigger. My review will reflect not only my satisfaction with this particular product - but with the entire package. Some of you who are reading this review will want to check out the package deals that include this product. I would certainly recommend a package if you are looking for a complete set up.
To begin with - I was impressed with the amount of quality equipment for the cost. The package is a great option for those who need a pro-quality lighting set up at a reasonable price. I suspect that if I was a full time pro I might want something more substantial -- but since I only shoot part time and did not want to spend a fortune on lighting equipment -- this was a great buy.
This particular product (EX100A) is well designed. It has a nice tactile feel. It has intuitive controls. I had it out of the box, set up, and working within a half hour. I use it for individual, couples and small group portraits, and for photographing objects. The results of my test shots were fabulous, as were my first sessions with real people. I am looking forward to experimenting with other uses.
One of the better features of EX100A is the the soft box that was included in the package deal. Though it was a bit tricky to assembly and attach, the quality of the lighting was outstanding, and the quality of my photos took a big step forward when I started using it.
So if you are thinking about this product, go for it. I give it four stars - and for me that is pretty much a top rating because I like to keep the five star rating for those relatively few items that are truly the best of the best.

I've had this set for about two years, and it's gotten occasional use -- meaning I used it maybe once a month, and each use saw 200-400 firings.
The light stand included is pretty good, the softbox is OK (hard to set up, and I could never get mine to seem *perfectly* put together). The flash itself was pretty great, it gave off great light and was very reliable. Wish it had a way to turn off the slave, but overall I was pretty happy with it.
Then I was shooting a friend's maternity photos last weekend, and the flash committed suicide. The bulb didn't blow -- in fact, I still have the original bulb. But something internally popped, very loudly, and the unit visibly put off quite a bit of smoke. And now when I shake it there's stuff rattling around inside, no doubt the shreds of whatever exploded inside. I'll probably dissect it out of curiosity, and who knows, maybe it's fixable.

Comments about Impact One Monolight Kit (120VAC):
I have purchased as two sets of two monolight kits. It is easy to set up and use.
I have read about the review on the difficulty of assembling the light box. It was true. Two person's effort was initially needed. Soon, after a couple of practices, I am able to easily assemble and disassembly without another person's help.
Based on my Nikon camera, the color temperature is slight higher than I expected, which is slight above 5500K.
I am able to trigger the light with my built-in flash even at 1/125th power.
It is excellent to take portrait or one person full length shoots. If you need to take group pictures, then you might want a higher power model. I plan to upgrade to a higher power Impact moonlight kit.
In short, it is reliable, and holds an excellent value. Highly recommended.

Comments about Impact One Monolight Kit (120VAC):
I've used it for portraits of my girls as well as using the softbox for some stop motion video. It's very versatile. The softbox produces beatiful soft light, but it does take a couple times putting it together to get used to it. I'd like it to have a larger umbrella, but for the price I'll just buy an extra large umbrella. Love the air-cushioned stand. It's not a $500 kit, but for the price it's great to start off with. After I got my camera set right (Canon 60d) I used the camera flash to trigger it, and it worked fine. Note: the sync cord that comes with the kit will not work with the 60D which doesn't have a pc sync port. You have to either use the pop-up flash as a trigger or buy a pc adapter to mount to the flash of the camera then use the sync cord.

Comments about Impact One Monolight Kit (120VAC):
This unit is a great value. For what you pay and what you get it is surprising. The unit works well especially used as a slave unit. The only downside is the unit has some slightly weak plastic construction and the soft box is a pain to use. But you get what you pay for and this item is a fantastic deal at such a low price. If you need a cost effective unit for some simple photo work this unit is great.

Used to do single and group portraits. It takes a moment to set up but once assembled it works fine. It is my first kit so I cannot compare to others. Fortunatly I have not lost any parts yet since there are a few that would be easily lost or damaged (metal rods and plastic brackets in housings.

Comments about Impact One Monolight Kit (120VAC):
This is a very nice monolight for the money. Moderately high output, and variable down to 1/8th power.
It does not come with a modeling light, for what that's worth.
Love the 'ready' beep.

Comments about Impact One Monolight Kit (120VAC):
This kit provides me a simple way to do background illumination. One of the included accessories was a very low light stand that allows you to screw in a light mount to one of the legs for an "on-the-floor" mounting point. This allows me to illuminate backgrounds at any angle, and with any subject (even very small children!).
The light is just a plastic unit, so some care will be needed when packing/transporting/storing this light, but it works well for my needs.

Use for a simple set up of indoor portrait. Set up is easy but the umbera is hard to attached to the stand. The hole in the reflector just not align with the stand. Over all, with this price you can't ask too much.

Comments about Impact One Monolight Kit (120VAC):
I am very happy with this kit. The lights, soft boxes and stands are very good quality considering the price. I did some quick tests and there is plenty of light for portrait and still life work. Even with the soft boxes on and baffled, I still needed to turn the main light down to 1/2 power. For studio and location portraits, these fit the bill perfectly.
