The Kenko 12mm UniplusTube DG (extension ring) is an accessory exclusively designed for use with standard AF lenses to shoot subjects at closer distance with higher magnification. Magnification ratio and focusing distance effect vary according to lens and tube combination. The longer the tube, the stronger the effect.
Provides perfect coupling with automatic aperture, TTL metering and AE mechanism. AF support is dependent on your lens' maximum aperture. As a rule, the lens has to be set to f/5.6 or brighter in order for the camera's AF system to work.
This DG Extension tube has upgraded "Gate-Array IC" circuitry to work better with digital SLRs and some of the digital SLR lenses.

Comments about Kenko 12mm UniplusTube DG - Auto Extension Tube for Nikon AF-D:
I wanted to get into macro photography and was debating an extension tube or a short macro lens. Glad I made the choice I did. After reading John Shaw's book "Close ups in Nature", I found he recommends tubes over short macro lens, and for use with longer macros in addition. I'm still working on technique, but the Kenko works with all my Nikon lens and auto-focuses perfectly.

Comments about Kenko 12mm UniplusTube DG - Auto Extension Tube for Nikon AF-D:
It's realy great if used with fixed lenses. I use it with 105mm to reduce minimal distance between me and the object. Very useful in crowded room or for close-up photography. Tube is very small and lightweight [...] for great macro effects.Joanna Kossak

Comments about Kenko 12mm UniplusTube DG - Auto Extension Tube for Nikon AF-D:
Some cool product, very easy to use. I have made some nice photos with it, mostly products, small detals and such. It is not enought for a good macro photograhy of insects and stuff like that but it gives nice DOF.
