If you want to tote around one dSLR body, a telephoto, a couple zoom lenses, a flash, and some standard accessories around comfortably, then this medium backpack is a great choice. It fits medium sized dSLR's like the canon 50D and nikon d90 like a glove...provided there's no battery grip attached. Ample padding, fits a canon 70-200 f2.8 nice and snug, normal primes and mild telephotos can be stored vertically in the compartments. Perhaps not enough padding/weatherproofing for extreme excursions or those who just treat their gear roughly. If that's your thing, get an expedition 5 instead. Much more padding/weatherproofing and deep enough to accomodate a battery grip if you have one. As always, tamrac makes a superb photo backpack. It'll get dirty, but it won't wear out.

So I tired this bag out for the first time when I went on a thirty mile biking trip from though Queens to Brooklyn. This bag was great for the basics of camera equipment, and was FAIRLY reasonably priced. The only gripe was that there was NO space for ANYTHING else. Who makes a backpack without room for a cellphone, wallet water bottle?!?! This would have been useful even if I was just walking around, and not on a biking trip and really I think it should be a basic consideration in backpack construction.

Comments about Tamrac 5374 Adventure 74 Backpack (Gray/Black):
This is a good medium size bag to organize and carry all of my lenses, flash, and camera body. I'm carrying 3 telephotos, 1 Canon EOS body, a flash, and miscellaneous other accessories. I've got room for one more lens.
Everything is well padded and the bag has been comfortable for short walking trips (1/2 hour so far). The straps distribute the weight well and its well padded. Its easy to put into the car or carry on a plane. I'm primarily using it to carry everything in one place so I have my gear with me when on vacation or visiting my grandchildren.
It seems well made with heavy duty zippers and material but I haven't really used it enough to put it to the test.
I considered the smaller version of this and am glad I didn't get it as I don't think all of my lenses would fit.
My only complaints are: 1) No bottle carrier. Should have been included at this price.
2) Tamrack's color coded card storage system is mostly a waste of space. They're too small to hold my spare battery and I don't need this many slots to hold spare memory cards.

Small backpack style camera bag with plenty of room. Very comfortable to wear and durable.
Store camera body, 2 lenses, camcorder, external flash, and assorted filters and still have roon for more. Water resistant and great for backpacking type trips. Highly recommended.

I have owned this bag and my Nikon d300s camera for almost a year. I am writing my review after being in an ATV accident where I was thrown in the water with my backpack & camera attached to me. Four-wheeler landed on top of me and after being under water for a couple of minutes camera was completely dry and undamaged. I would recommend this backpack to anyone.

Perfect for hiking days and trips, especially if the weather is questionable. Love that it is waterproof. Great pockets for a variety of gear. Need to add a separate water bottle holder if you want one.
I had the larger one and exchanged for this smaller size because the larger one was too big on my petite frame. It is a better size for me. Only wish is that it were a little more rounded to fit the curves of a body a bit better.

Very pleased. It's surprising just how much it will hold. Camera w/lens, plus 4 more lens, flash, filters and room still left. Yet it's not a large pack. I just wish it had a place to attach straps on the bottom.

I used to have a Tamrac Expedition 3, but stuff I carry was to tight and it was uneasy to get it out from the backpack.
This Adventure 74 is a bit more spacious than Expedition 3 buy still keeps small dimensions that make it very easy and comfortable to carry. I can fit in my brand new Canon Rebel T2i, with a 28-200 lens attached, a fisheye lens, a 100-300 zoom, my flash and even my Canon FS11 camcorder.
I strongly recommend it if you're looking for something spacious, sturdy but not bulky...

This backpack is compact but roomy and has room for important gear. My daughter used this pack when she went to Ireland for two weeks so I bought one for myself. It is compact enough to store in the overhead yet has enough room for camera body, extra lenses, batteries, cards and cables. Durable and protective of equipment.

I love my new backpack. At first I thought it was to small, but after I moved some of the dividers around I have plenty of room for additional equipment. Has a nice front pocket that is deep where you can put additional gear in there. Well padded to protect your gear!!!

I was using a SlingShot200AW but I found it a little tight when carrying two bodies and a few lenses and accessories. Since I enjoy photo-walking, I didn't want something that was too big but would still fit all of my gear. This bag is perfect for that. The construction is very solid and the compartments are well padded. However, the tripod gets a little tough to attach when there is too much stuff in the front pocket.

The bag is a little small to hold the D300s but my D60 fits great. Had to leave the lens bags at home as they don't in the bags. I have 4 different bags - this one is the best to be on the move and to open up at the airports.

It's very cute and seems durable. I like it a lot. However, it's the bad part of buying online. It's a bit small for my D300 with 17-55mm lens on it. It was not possible to have the 70-200 on camera to fit in this thing.
It would be real nice for something smaller like the D3000 with the kit or 18-200mm lens.

Upgraded my camera and gear recently. I was tempted to go with a coventional gear bag, but decided on the back pack instead. Great move on my part. I like to shoot wild life, and that generally requires a lot of manual zoom. I can stow and carry all the necesary gear for a shoot and still walk upright with a lot less effort. Plus it's both hands free. There's also the security of it not looking like a camera bag when I'm traveling.
