Comments about Ikan V-7000 7" Widescreen LCD Monitor:
I needed to show the director of the film i'm working on what the shots looked like, but she said she couldn't get a "feel" thru the small screen on the Canon XL2. This worked perfectly, the image was clear, the cables are long enough to be where she wanted it and the price was right.

Comments about Ikan V-7000 7" Widescreen LCD Monitor:
I've owned this monitor for several years now and love it. I use it as an external field monitor for the director. Goes great with the monitor case and looks very professional. Also comes with several accessories that I have found very useful in the field and in studio.
Goes through batteries pretty quick. I recommend investing in a external battery unit rather than using the AA battery pack. Also, if mounting, do not screw to tight. For some reason, the insides of the unit are not protected. If you screw too tight, the bolt will go into the mother board... thus creaking the monitor.
Great for the price... can't beat it.

Comments about Ikan V-7000 7" Widescreen LCD Monitor:
This is a great tool for framing, but that's it. When used from stationary cameras on a tripod, the operator may stand back to frame the shot. But if the lighting changes, or the auto-focus fails (in lower light for example) then this product fails to provide the needed sharpness to make the focus adjustment. The colors are not accurately displayed, either. Even after using color bars to adjust the settings, I have to blindly adjust values until I find a closer match based on what I'm seeing in real time. The wires are cumbersome. We often shoot in dark venues, and auto-focus is not reliable enough. Since I'm not ready to fork out [$]for a pair of "really good" monitors, we have opted for a magnifying lens and hood (Hoodman) for our stationary shoots. (You can get a pair of these for around [$]!)

Used this for a bit with my XL2... I like what it offers in the way of affordability and portability. It could be sharper and clearer, but at the price-point, it's a soid piece.

Comments about Ikan V-7000 7" Widescreen LCD Monitor:
I baught this monitor because I kind of got tired of my VX2000 small 2.5" LCD screen. A few uses and many adjustments later, I decided to go back to the VX2000's 2.5" LCD. This monitor's colors are way off and it is almost useless for focussing. The connecting wires are very combersome - you tend to see the wires before you see the camera and mounted monitor. This monitor can however, be used for framing, but use your camera's LCD or viewfinder for accurate exposure, color, white balance, and focus.
