The JVC KY-F550U is a very powerful high resolution 3-CCD industrial video camera designed to operate in medical and scientific applications. The 1/3-inch 3-CCD system has a sophisticated 12-bit analog to digital processor and a 24-bit DSP. This camera will output its high resolution video via the 6-pin digital FireWire connector to a computer or through its RGB connector for analog viewing and recording. The infrared filter can be removed so the camera can be used for ultra-low light sensitivity with black and white image capture.

Advanced A to D and Digital Signal Processing
The KY-F550U uses the latest 12-bit analog to digital converter for low distortion across the entire dynamic range of the camera. Together with a 24-bit parallel processing DSP highlight handling is dramatically improved and gamma correction, shadow detail and color reproduction approaches the detail of a full studio camera.
Digital Auto Shading Compensation
The digital auto shading feature can automatically compensate for any color shading errors caused by interaction between the lens and prism assembly in C-mount optical systems. This compact camera system requires no external CCU for image control.
FireWire Output
The DV interface consists of universal AV/C protocol. This allows high quality compressed digital motion picture signal transfer to a computer, another DV recorder or the DB-X201M medical DVD recorder. In addition, the bundled software allows the DV signal to be viewed via the PC while also offering full access to the main camera control parameters.
Color or Black&White Images
The KY-F550U comes with an IF-Cut filter installed so that sensitivity to visible spectrum is enhanced for color images. The filter's location makes it easy to remove as swap for JVC's quartz filter option. This permits black & white imaging withing the IR band of the spectrum. In this configuration the camera can produce images in ultra low light conditions.
