The USB to Wireless Network Wi-Fi 54g IEEE 802.11b/g Adapter by Iogear is awesome! I am set up at home with a wi-fi router, and all I had to do was plug this baby into my CPU and I was ready to roll. I have had the same computer for several years and have hardly used it lately because I hate wires and the limited spaces to put a computer in a home. After all of these years, not only can I use my CPU from anywhere that I can plug it into an outlet, but the internet moves faster than with an ethernet cable. Ultimately, this product is flawless. It feels a little warm when running, but it has never gotten hot, and I would expect some warmth coming from an electronic device, especially one this cool. So, all in all, my downloads and my web surfing have reached the ultimate plateau. I would recommend this product to anyone with a computer hooked up to a cable (and if you have a wi-fi network), anyone who owns a laptop if the wi-fi has stopped working (or never had it), or for anyone on the go using 802.11b/g wireless networks!

We had planned on using this on one of our old laptops which did not have a built in wireless card. Unfortunately after everything was installed correctly, the unit failed to pick up a connection even when used right next to the wireless router. The signal strength read "Excellent" but the connection would go from "Limited to No Connectivity" back to "Not Connected" every other second. I was not able to pull up any web pages. Luckily our money was refunded for the purchase, but I was disappointed that it didn't work.

Comments about Iogear USB to Wi-Fi 54g Wireless Network Adapter:
Product is mostly transparent to the user. Range seems great.
Installation software is different from instructions. A little confusing to set up but not bad.
In a month, connection lost twice. Software stares at me until I figure out it wants me to reclick my network's for it to reconnect.
When we talk, it makes me guess a little, but we haven't had to talk much.

Comments about Iogear USB to Wi-Fi 54g Wireless Network Adapter:
Item ships with drivers only through Windows XP. To get Vista & Windows 7 drivers, you have to go to the company's web site; a problem, since if you have bought this product, presumably you don't have internet access. Once at the website, you have to search quite a bit to find the drivers (the "find" feature on the website does not take you to the right drivers). Once I found the right driver, transferred it to the right computer with a flash drive, and installed it, this product worked fine. But it was much harder than it should have been. What should have taken 2 minutes took close to an hour.

We've purchased a dozen or so of these bad boys and all but one are still functional. they're hardy and do they're job well, but we've never tested them with any large amounts of data (over 10 meg at a time maybe)

Comments about Iogear USB to Wi-Fi 54g Wireless Network Adapter:
I've had the same wireless card for about 8 years, and lately it wouldn't authenticate, or the signal dropped. I thought something was wrong with my network, but when I had no trouble going online with my iPod (and I made no changes to my PC), I suspected something was wrong with the card. I bought this today and WOW, not only can I actually connect to my network, it's 3x faster. My PC even seems faster overall, probably because it doesn't take as long to process web pages.
I installed the driver but NOT the included utility. I let WinXP manage the connection.

Comments about Iogear USB to Wi-Fi 54g Wireless Network Adapter:
Bought this to get an old PC in my garage hooked into my wireless internet. Just plugged it in and had it use my WEP key and now I'm all hooked up. Not the greatest signal but not slow at all. Only thing is that it gets a little warm when its plugged in. All in all a nice piece of software. Definitely better than those bulky old cards.

Comments about Iogear USB to Wi-Fi 54g Wireless Network Adapter:
I am using this wireless adapter in place of a wireless card I had installed on my desktop. I thought it would be easy to install and use, and despite a few difficulties it was. I followed the directions of installing the software that was included on a CD and then after installation, popped in the USB adapter. This is where the trouble began. Because my office is situated in an office building, I had trouble getting my adapter to connect to my password protected wireless router. The device picked up the router, but for some reason I could not connect to it through the device software. I called Iogear customer service, left a message, and still have not received a return call back. Luckily, I figured it out. Instead of using the Iogear software, I was able to disable it and connect through the Windows network connection. I am now connected to the Internet.

Comments about Iogear USB to Wi-Fi 54g Wireless Network Adapter:
We use this item to link our netbook to a desktop network/internet. After the software was installed and set up, it has operated very smoothly. Especially useful is the ability to adjust the power output. The default level seems to be strong and cover a fairly large area, but when we don't need too much distance, we just use the lowest power setting - it seems more appropriate. The manual that is included on the CD-ROM is useful, but not having worked with wi-fi so directly before, I had to look up a good deal of terminology and abbreviations in order to know what I was doing regarding 'access point' vs. 'station' vs. 'ad hoc.' security settings, etc. In the end, this adapter has proven to be quite handy.

I use the IOgear 54g Wi-Fi adaptor to connect my XP desktop PC to the internet, which it does automatically on power up. The previous NetGear adaptor was constantly dropping out and reconnecting. I have no such problem with the IOgear 54g. It also has good sensitivity for weak signals.
Comments about Iogear USB to Wi-Fi 54g Wireless Network Adapter:
This wireless adapter works well and is easy to use. Solved my laptop/internet connection problems.
