I actually ordered this stand along with a bunch of other equipment. [...]As far at the item goes, I think it's a good mic stand. The base is really heavy (compared to some other stands I have), so it has a nice solid feel. However, I think the screw threads may be a bit delicate (i.e. made of white metal) and could easily strip (in fact, that was the problem with the first one I received). I think you'd have to be careful when screwing the upright to the boom support; any cross-threading, and you would easily strip it! Nonetheless, exercise care and it's a good little stand!

Comments about On-Stage MS7920B - Kick Drum Microphone Stand:

I know these are supposed to be drum stands but I bought these for podcasting in my home. Because my podcasting setup isn't permanent (I did to take it down after every podcasting session) I didn't want mic stands that attach to a table. These fit the bill. They are very very heavy and sturdy. You'll be surprised when you get them in the mail and wonder if you ordered lead weights. The base may very well be lead as it's very heavy. This means that whatever mic you attach won't fall over. I am not using heavy mics but I am using a pop filer and neither together come close to tipping it over even when fully extended. The stand is very well made and offers lots of ways to adjust it. It also makes my podcast look very professional to the guest. The other drawback would be if you wanted to fold these up and transport them. It takes awhile to take it apart especially if you want to detach the bottom. I keep them setup with the pop filter and mics attached (I have 2) and just move them to a secure location to store. I wrap the XLR cables around the stand which makes it easier to move. For me their are no real cons and the only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is for taking it apart.

Comments about On-Stage MS7920B - Kick Drum Microphone Stand:

I used to keep my microphone on the table, but all the rats and other varmint were really stanking the thing up.

Now, thanks to its surprisingly heavy base and petite boom arm, I can keep the mic ABOVE the desk, close to my mouth at ALL times!

I'm going to save a load on windscreens!!!

Comments about On-Stage MS7920B - Kick Drum Microphone Stand:

This stand has a small but heavy base. The stand without the boom is just the right size to mic our bass drum, so we are not even using the boom. This allows us to have an extra boom to use somewhere else. It takes up a lot less space than the other stand we had micing the bass drum. Great product and was cheaper than other similar products.

Comments about On-Stage MS7920B - Kick Drum Microphone Stand:

I've used this Stand for kick drum and guitar cabinets. It's got all the bits you need in small boom stand. Weighted foot might not be as stable as a tripod with sand bags, but unless it's being over extended or supporting an especially heavy mic it does a fine job.

I've used this stand on kick drums and amps for a few sessions already, and it seems to be just fine. The base is surprisingly heavy, and the pivot has yet to sag, even when using a heavy condencer and shock mount.

I don't prefer the sliding metal "thumbscrew," but it's pretty much standard on stands in this price range, and I wasn't interested in spending double on a more dependable design. It looks like the components will hold up, which I can't say of similar stands I've had in the past. But so far, so good.

These stands are just right for several pro applications. Strong enough for our D112's or Beta 52's on kick drum or the ever popular uber-versatile SM57 for guitars etc. It's small footprint let's me sneak it into tight drum kits where larger base stands fear to tread. Saving trailer space is another plus as I can transport 4 of these babies in the same area as one of our round boom stands. Can't think of any downsides as this was a second purchase of these particular stands. Try em - you won't be disappointed!
