Sony BKM-WE3000 Optional E-VTR Network Board

The Sony BKM-WE3000 is the optional E-VTR network card designed to be installed in the MSW-2000 series of MPEG/IMX video tape machines. The board allows vital maintenance information on these decks be displayed on standard web browsers and checked virtually anywhere in the world. The data displayed includes a hours meter, error/warning code logs and channel conditions. This capability allows operators to remotely monitor the status of multiple E-VTRs from a single PC for proactive maintenance operations. The E-VTR also supports the industry standard SNMP protocol, allowing further advanced remote monitoring using the Sony MMStation Remote Monitoring software.

Key Features

• Option for MPEG IMX VTRs: The BKM-WE3000 provides a plug-in card, network button selectable front panel, Ethernet connector panel, and application software of e-VTR manager. These are all in one kit. After the kit installation, MPEG IMX deck is called "e-VTR" which allows transfer of video and audio over IP networks.

• Material Exchange Format: The MXF (Material Exchange Format) file format complies to SMPTE standards, and contains a SDTI-CP stream; MPEG2 4:2:2 Profile@Main Level recording at 50Mbps, I frame only, 8-bit, 4:2:2 digital component recording (SMPTE D-10 format) and 8 Audio channels at 16- bits/channel or 4 Audio Channels at 24-bits/channel at sampling frequency 48 kHz with structural metadata. The E-VTR can either send or receive it. The received file is recorded on the MPEG IMX tape. (MSW-M2100 player deck can only send out the file.)

• Transfer High and Low Resolution Files Simultaneously: They are available either in E-E mode, in record mode, or in playback mode. The condition of guaranteed bandwidth and latency of network architecture can realize this application. In case of recording, 3 storage devices are able to receive the same content at the same time including the MPEG IMX tape; D10 and MPEG4 at the servers and D10 on tape.

• File Conversion from All 1/2-Inch Standard-Definition Tape Formats: Any tape format of Betacam, Betacam SP, Betacam SX, Digital Betacam, or MPEG IMX can be played back and converted to MXF file either for high resolution or low resolution applications.

• Front Panel Operation for Transfer: In addition to the current manual FTP feature from front panel, file can be transferred by utilizing HTTP. As a result, it will be more flexible use in WAN environment application with proxy server. Also, this manual file transfer can select either hi-res or lo-res and either one connection or two connections.

• URI Linkage for Expanding Metadata and E-VTR File System: Utilizing the network, MXF file can refer to the external database which is linked via URI, Uniform Resource Identifier, and then the larger metadata such as descriptive metadata can be attached. The linkage between MXF file and URI is kept by the data saved in Tele-File label. Also, using this URI linkage, the E-VTR file system can be expanded for the unrestrained number of the file saved in Tele-File label.

• Advanced E-VTR Manager Application Software Supplied: The E-VTR Manager has more powerful features on its GUI operation such as proxy file browsing, URI address assignment with http:// or ftp:// for metadata link and file system expansion, DNS client support, file friendly tape transport control, etc.
