I purchased this 14ft cable by Belkin in order to run video and audio directly from my Sony VX2100 camcorder to the Sony stand-alone DVD recorder to have enough slack to elevate the camera on a 8 foot tripod for event videography. Works like a charm and I can now record to both tape and DVD at the same time without a lick of problems!

Unfortunately, the cable did not work. I set up the rig in testing before an event and it worked fine. Nice strong cable. But then at the event, the new cable simply went dead. This may have been due to the packaging: it was folded tightly, not coiled, and the fold-kinks stayed in the cable after opening.

I have one complaint about this cord. I bought a 14ft and a 6ft Belkin 1394 4pin to 4pin. Both aren't very snug in the socket. When they stay in the socket(as in dont touch anything the cable is connected to) they tend to work quite alright. They seem durable and pretty reliable other than the socket fit.

It's well constructed and sturdy, but the coils are very stiff and difficult to straighten out, which makes it annoying and hard to use at full length. 5 stars if they made it out of material that stays straight more easily.

We needed an extra long firewire to use in our casting studio. The 6' ones from local retailers just weren't cutting it. This one is just right, and much thicker as well, so it seems like it will wear well. Not crazy about the silver color - would have preferred black but it's really not an issue.
