The male end end of the cable could not attach to the female receptical on the box because each had female connecting bolts. Being secured by rivets, the securing bolts could not be removed. The respective securing bolts on each prevented the male end of the cable from plugging into the female receptical on the box.

This product works fine, except it doesn't support higher resolutions. In my case, 1680x1050. Now that I have come back to this page, I see that the description says it only works with monitors smaller than 17". Would be helpful if the resolutions were listed.
